I too have similar IE8 issues with the background of sideboxes and sideboxes appearing on pages that they shouldn't be on.
Any info to solve would be much appreciated.

When that happens, generally it is not the fault of the template.

There could be a third party sidebox that you added causing issues.

If it only happens on certain pages, then it means there's something different on that page that is causing the issue. Usually its a missing </div> or one to many </div>.

I'll need to see a link of a page with the issue.

Hello - I am using this great template with zc 1.3.8 and this afternoon I uploaded template mods for the the zencart optimization pack from zencartoptimization.com and now the sideboxes on my product info pages are gone.. I used winmerge to compare the changes in tpl_product_info and I can't find anything that would blow them out... they look fine on the categories pages. It does make some css chnages - but they are all about account creation and checkout.
