Admin Profiles (for v1.3.x only!) Support Thread

Hi again,

This is tragic!

Alright I installed the install_admin_profiles.sql to my live site.

205 statements processed successfully.

I renamed the mod admin folder to suit my admin folder name.

I used the extra boxes php files I already edited and tested on a local WAMP server and put them in the extra boxes folder of the admin Mod.

I uploaded the files overwriting files where req.

I have logged into my zen cart admin.

My mod boxes are missing which is fine as they should be available in admin settings to check.

However, there is no P (permissions icon) in the admin settings.

I have repeated the install process 2 times and still no P icon.

What step would be doing incorrectly?

I'm following same steps I did on WAMP server which worked. install.txt

Any input is appreciated!

You can ignore above.. post regarding live installation... I think a while a go I had half installed admin profiles. So I had to apply the 3 manual patches.

All working now.

Sorry for probably missing the answer to this somewhere earlier in the thread but I am getting so that nothing seems to make sense anymore.....

Running version 1.3.8a with all the patches etc done and admin profiles installed and was working correctly.

I have installed the FAQ manager mod which says that it does not ovewrite any files etc and didn't seem to. Since this is installed I have been to permissions for my admin account and the new mod is showing there waiting to be ticked. The problem lays here.....

I can tick the box, save changes and then it sends me back to the index page. Have followed a few answers and basically re-installed the admin profiles mod fully and now have a few more third party mods which were ok without ticks in the boxes and even though I can tick the boxes, I just get returned to the index page when I click save changes. Going back into permissions shows me that nothing I have done has been saved.

Would appreciate any help available as my limit is usually to follow install instructions, which up to now has worked well, and I do not have the know how to start changing/looking/ editing files on my own initiative.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or a point in the right direction for the answer...... and this is a really great mod, or was when it was working before I messed it up

Which version of Admin Profiles are you using?

You say you have all security patches for zencart but have you done the patch for admin profiles. It sounds like that is your problem. here is the info.

The recently-released Admin security patch adds a security token to most forms that update the database. More security is a good thing. However in this case the new security token prevents current versions of Admin Profiles from updating admin user profiles.

Attached is a patch that makes Admin Profiles files compatible with the Zen Cart patch. Simply replace your admin/admin_control.php file with the one in the zip archive below. The Admin Profiles patch will work whether or not you have the Zen Cart security patch installed, and so is recommended.

The version is 1.0.7 according to the folder in which the mod files are found. I have just tried replacing the file from the zip in 'demiurgia' s post but it has had no effect, still get kicked back to index page and the permissions are not changed.

OOh sorry that didn't fix your problem. It worked perfectly for me and many were having the same problem after the zen cart security updates. i am no expert so hopefully those that are more zencart intelligent then me can help. Only suggestions I would have are to make sure that file was overwritten properly - ie that permissions are set and that your ftp is overwriting not resuming [I apologise if this is obvious to you but some people aare novices like me lol]
You will need to make sure you know the login for the no 1 admin as when I installed the updated file I had to reset all my user permissions and could only get in with the main admin.

You have described perfectly the symptoms that occur when version 1.0.7 of the mod is run with the Zen Cart security patches in place. The solution is to replace the admin_control file with the one in the zip.

I recommend taking a close look at your process for replacing that file. Some FTP clients by default won't replace a file without an explicit confirmation, so are you sure the new one got there? Try deleting the file on your server before updating the new one to be sure that you are actually using the version that will solve your problem.

Hi Kuroi,

Have now done as you suggested and deleted the file on the server then uploaded the one contained in the zip. Unfortunately, the problem is still there and can't change any of the permissions.

I am the only admin account on here at the moment with ID1 as I have removed the one other that was present. I presume the fact that I can access the panel with permissions boxes to change them that the password which can be reset is ok? I don't actually remember being asked for a password when re-installing so am also presuming that this is picked up from somewhere in the config files....

Is it possible that something which the admin profiles changes to assign new permissions does not have the correct settings to allow it to be changed? For instance, you have to change the config files permissions to 444 etc after install. I am stabbing in the dark here with an awful lot of presumption as I have no real idea how this all works but wonder if I may have simply changed something simple in error (although I fear that tracing this may be a big problem...)?

I hope that you may have further ideas as to a cure, it is not stopping the operation of the live site but will be a pain if anything needs adding or changing as a few of the things that did work don't know as no access is allowed, including image handler. Just to go back on a point, this was all working well up to the install of the FAQ mod and my attempt to allow myself access to the config panel for this mod.

I await your thoughts eagerly......

A massive 'thank you' to Kuroi and also demiurgia for their help in sorting this problem. All is working fine again now.

As usual I think, it was not the mod at fault but either the ftp process or, much more likely, the guy at the operating end!!!!!

Excellent mod and like most everything I have found to do with Zen Cart, excellent, fast backup and assistance when needed. Thanks again, much appreciated.
