    Default Re: FCKeditor Plugin 2.5

    Hello,
I've updated my FCKeditor to 2.6.4.1 version and the problems with image upload > browse appeared. In firefox everything is ok but in IE8 I get an 404 error. There was no problem with 2.5 version.
Any clue what is the reason and is there any patch for this?

    Thanks in advance

The 2.5 version of FCKeditor (indeed every version prior to 2.6.4.1) was found to have a serious vulnerability. The FCKeditor fix in 2.6.4.1 still leaves the vulnerable page exposed, though hopefully protected - I'd prefer not to comment on that.

The new version of the Zen Cart mod, bundles the 2.6.4.1 versions and adds an extra layer of protection. Unfortunately, as you have discovered, it relies on information that IE appears not to provide.

You can get around this by deleting the .htaccess file in editors/fckeditor/editor/filemanager/browser/default, though this may leave you exposed again.

Better would be to turn off the upload image feature and use FTP to put transfer them to your site for when you need them.

That is absolutely the better approach.

weber if your using php and its not showing its because you need to change some of the fckconfig.js, follow the instructions here http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showth...t=37252&page=4

    Hello
Thank You all for response, I have one small newbie question about index.html file placed in myfiles/.. (still talking about FCKeditor 2.4.6.1) as long as this file is in there You cannot upload files thru fkceditor (message with incorrect permisions even when 777 is set), also when You upload by ftp it isnt visible in fck image browser. So my question is > what is this index.html file for (with 0 size)? is it for some security reasons? can it be removed without creating some security problems?

Some one please help as I have searched for days and posted the question with nobody answering. I have installed the latest FCKeditor, I have v1.3.8a zen cart and I have the TinyMCE installed also. The issue that I am having is that in both editors all of the buttons do not have images so you can not tell what the buttons are unless you hover over them. Not sure what is going on here as I originally thought it was a problem with the TinyMCE but FCK has the same issue and I am not sure where to start looking.

Wanted to report that the "browse" issue occurred for me in Firefox but not IE (ver 7.0)

Would love to.. **sigh** Unfortunately the charm and attraction of this WYSIWYG editor in particular is that DIYER clients who are not terribly tech savvy like being able to update/add content without needing to know/learn FTP.. (and yeah fortunately or unfortunately, FTP is a difficult concept for some to grasp..) So I explain the risks, try to show them the right way to do this, but most decide to accept the risk and use the file manager feature.. I'm always amazed how convenience always wins out over security for many end users.. **sigh**

    • What version of Zen Cart are you using? 1.3.8a (with security patch)
    • Has your site been upgraded? No, new install today
    • What addons have you installed? FCKeditor When? This evening (UK).
    • In what ways is your site customized or different from a brand new uncustomized install? None
    • HAVE YOU LOOKED IN THE FAQ AREA for answers to your question? (ie: a search for your error message or what you want to edit/change, etc) Yes
    • Have you searched the FORUM for your error message or for answers to the question you're asking? Yes

I was having problems getting the HTMLarea WYSIWYG editor working, and so, following the advice in a forum post I'd found I downloaded and installed FCKeditor.

It appeared that this worked fine, as I was then able to choose FCKeditor from the drop-down list.

However, when I go to a product page I now get a "page not found" message where I would expect the text editing area to be.

    The message is:
"The requested URL /shop/<renamed admin folder>/shop/editors/fckeditor/editor/fckeditor.html was not found on this server."

The path is obviously wrong, but I don't know where it is getting this information from?

As per the readme.html instructions with FCKeditor, I just dragged the 3 folders into the root folder (which is /shop).

I've tried clearing the cache/reloading etc. and I've also tried logging in on another computer to be sure. If I use Chrome, it just displays the HTML editing area (no WYSIWYG at all).

    TIA,
