    Default Version 1.0.8?

    Hi There

I am running version 1.0.7.1 but would really like to install the "Restrict product Categories" mod available here: http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...oducts_id=1088

Problem is that this mod is based on 1.0.7 and I'm not sure what exactly changed in 1.0.7.1 so that I can make manual changes.

Can anyone at Kuroi help please?

    Thanks

    Cliff

    Hi Cliff

Make sure that you have read the moderator's note on that mod's download page, and the commentary about it earlier in this thread.

If you're OK with its limitations and want to go ahead, then the key file is admin/admin_control.php.

You should really remove the existing Admin Profiles code and tables since the structure is a little different for that mod. Then edit the admin_control file to replace its line 109 with line 89 from Admin Profiles and for good measure line 62 with Admin Profiles line 42.

I think that this should work, but recommend trying it on a test system system first, since I haven't tested it (and don't plan to!)

well i had this mod running on my site for 2 years now and running fine... however for some reason it seems to have stopped working! i have just emplyed a freelance person to instert items for me so i went to make a admin profile for them. Created the new admin then click the P and all the setting came up. I selected the catogories tick box and the attributes names etc and catogoires/products etc just what they needed. Clicked saves settings and then i was sent back to the admin homepage.

logged out and logged in as new admin and lo and behold they had no options!

logged back in as myself admin1 an checked the provliges and nothing was selected. Ive tried 5 times now and tried a new admin but nothing is work! i cant even change my own setting... ie turn off or on something for my self :s

    any ideas??

Sounds like the prob I and lots others had. if you installed the zencart security updtaes it effects the admin profiles mod and you just need to install the update for it as well. The info you need is at post 751.[p76] or just go back a page to my previous reply to soemone else at post 865.

    hope it fixes your problem.

How do i do this? I have just installed the mod (on Zen cart 1.3.8a) and it is not giving me (admin ID1) access to admin settings or SQL patched panel. Ihave updated box file to no avail.
I know very little about using PHPMyAdmin.

Ok - I have had to move a cart with admin profiles to another server location for the second time in a week...don't ask.

The first time I moved it I had to reset my Admin as it would not let me into my admin with my old password. Then I couldn't see the menu nav bar and found out via this thread that I had to rerun the sql with the user id number. That worked.

Now I have move it again making clear note of my two user ids
    2 - had limited access
    3 - had full access
(1 had been lost when I reset the Admin in the first move)

So I ran the sql via the MyPhpAdmin and changed the admin_id = 1 to 3.

I can sign in and see menu bars
It doesn't allow me into the admin settings or anything else.

Ok so I decide to try 2 cuz I can always change it.

I can sign in and see menu bars
It doesn't allow me into the admin settings or the limited areas where it was allowed before.

So I deleted all the files added when I added admin profiles and loaded back the original zen cart files. Then I acted as though I was loading admin profiles for the first time. Still no luck!

I am using Admin Profiles v1.0.7 Zen Cart 1.3.8a
    Fual Slimbox
    IH2
    Edit Orders
    Categories Dressing
    Cherry_Zen
    EZ Populate

Can anyone help me with this. I am fairly good at following instructions and had access to MyPhpAdmin and can change any coding if given file path and coding information.

Lesson learned - do NOT add Admin Profiles until the site is at it's final destination!!!

    TIA
    Mona

btw - I love this mod and use it on two other sites.....that I have never had to move LOL

Quite the opposite. I've moved many sites with Admin Profiles in place. Provided the files and database tables are moved intact as part of the overall site, they're independent of where they're located and this is much the safest way to make the move.

I suspect that there's a clue in your inability to log in to the Admin after the first move. That suggests that there was something not quote right back there, but it's not possible from your description to work out what.

I would though recommend upgrading to version 1.0.7.1. There are no database changes needed, just one changed file. Again I can't tell form your description whether it will help, but it certainly won't do any harm.

Ok - will try that very willingly. If it doesn't work.....I will post again and maybe you could help me from there.

    Thanks

    Hi All,

    ZC- 1.3.8a (patched)
    AProfiles - 1.0.7.1

My Admin Profiles has been working great. I suspect what i'm seeing is simply "normal" behaviour but i want to ask to see if there's a better solution than what i'm guessing is the answer:

3rd party mods show up in Admin Settings and their visibility and access is enabled or disabled via check boxes. However, when removing no-longer-used 3rd party mods, their associative option checkboxes boxes remain within Admin Settings / Permissions, even though all files and database tables created for that mod have been removed.

Is there (or should there be) a proper way to remove these Admin Profiles Permissions settings when a mod no longer exists ...other than having to use phpMyAdmin or similar tool to manually remove the entries that Admin Profiles uses?

    Thanks.
