bug Re: Sequenced attributes based on stock addon...

    Hi all,

Please can someone help me? I have just installed:

    products_with_attributes_stock_4.7.ajax & Dynamic_DropDowns_for_SBA

on the face of it, it seems to do EXACTLY what i need, however I have a few problems.

When I simply add to cart when no options have been selected, i.e the drop down is displaying "Select Available Options" It adds the product to cart. this is not good as no attributes are selected: I need it to force a message saying "please make a selection"

    Second similar to the first:
When I select a drop down option that is showing out of stock, its allows me toadd it to the cart!?? I thought that the add to cart button would dissappear or at the very least a message would say this product is out of stock in the selcted option..

    Can anyone help me?

My dynamic Drop down is set to:
    Title Value
Product Info Single Attribute Display Plugin multiple_dropdowns
Product Info Multiple Attribute Display Plugin sequenced_dropdowns
Show Out of Stock Attributes True
Mark Out of Stock Attributes Right
Display Out of Stock Message Line True
Prevent Adding Out of Stock to Cart True

ive searched around on this subject but cant seem to find any similar issues. Maybe im doing something wrong???

    Cheers

    Phil

This is not related to this mod.. But the answer can be found in the Zen Cart tutorials. Click link below.

"Ok when i set a attribute to an item like a color that must be specified and I enable the Required button on the attribute it is letting customers add items to the cart without giving a required attribute. What could be causing this??"

Let this add-on go.. It's a wrap my friend.. It REALLY doesn't work.. The developer has not posted here in MONTHS and he does not respond to e-mails or PMs either.. IMO this is an ALMOST finished add-on.. This is yet another mod that I am considering paying someone to finish it for me..

Again, the issue here is the documentation was not followed.

"Stock by attributes v4.7 must be installed and working"

***It says nothing about products with attribute stock ajax.***

"The single_dropdown option does not work correctly as it does not add the item with the selected attribute. I hope to have this fixed soon. To get around this use multiple_dropdown or sequenced_dropdown options for the single attribute configuration."

"Multiple_drop down does not work with multiple attributes, a regular expression needs to be fixed. Use the sequenced_dropdown for more than one attribute"

Based on the posts in the Stock By Attributes support thread I'd say that it's likely that the instructions could should a little more clarity in regards as to which version is required.

    2. Stock by attributes v4.7 must be installed and working.
Again based on the posts in the Stock By Attributes support thread not everyone understands CLEARLY that ver 4.7, ver 4.7MultiAdd, andver 4.7Ajax are all different variations of the Stock by Attributes mode..

I submit that perhaps the instructions need to EXPLICITLY state that the ver 4.7 of SBA written by Kuroi is what is required for this app to work.

Also you are assuming that those of us having issues have not followed the instructions.. I will emphatically say that many of us DID follow the instructions.. (I posted DETAILS about what I was experiencing..) So I will be firing up the test store soon and I will be testing this again..

I know that others, following instructions, have it working well. If you find anything, let me know and I will update the package. I agree that the documentation should clearly say 4.7 written by Kuroi. I am just now seeing that there were packages after released that I was not aware of. Why they kept the same version number is beyond me.

Sure thing.. Let's start with my posts from September on Page 3 of this thread.. I followed the instructions (like I'm sure others who've posted having troubles with this module did). I posted my previous results..

Not sure why either, but the version numbering is a source of confusion in the SBA support threads as well..

It does however display which options in the dropdown are out of stock.

Despite this, I MAY try and make use of this add-on.. Gonna do a little more testing to decide if the "quirks" are things that can be worked around.. I have a client who could use something like this right now, and we may work with this.. Not sure..

I think you missed this from the documentation...

Since it was a port from OScommerce, there are options that have not fully been ported over. Since I am not a developer and did the best I could, I was hoping after submitting the contrib, other developers might tackle it. That did not happen.

I might go ahead and modify the contrib to not have any options and force those settings instead of relying on the user to read the documentation correctly.

That's enough for me.. going to bed..
Something else missed in the documentation...

"1. The single_dropdown option does not work correctly as it does not add the item with the selected attribute. I hope to have this fixed soon. To get around this use multiple_dropdown or sequenced_dropdown options for the single attribute configuration."

Again, going to make it more obvious to the user that these options don't work.

I read and UNDERSTOOD your documentation.. I think you missed the point that I was TESTING your module and REPORTING the results of that testing.. Bottomline is the features I needed to work DON'T WORK.. Wanted to post my findings for others..

Perhaps what would be VERY helpful in your documentation is to explain exactly how to setup your module so it does work.. The exact configuration setting you have used in your wife's store for example might be VERY helpful to know..

The exact configuration is automatically setup by the SQL script. I will be posting an update shortly that will make it clearer to the user to not change the default settings.
