I FINALLY figured out why IH2 wasn't applying watermarks to some images. It took me a long while banging my head against the wall. I already ran into one .png file that IH2 seemed to barf at but a reupload as jpg fixed it just fine. I never suspected what was wrong until I went to save one of the bad jpg's that wasn't getting watermarked.

Firefox wanted to save it as a gif. Sure enough all my pretty images that were name XXXXX.jpg were actually .gif's

I imaging IH2 tried to load up the image as a jpg.. that barfed.. so it decided to serve the original image. And thankfully Firefox and other browsers are forgiving about the extension and show them anyway.

It turns out a TON of images on my site are borked. I'll be spending a lot of time hunting down the originals and re-uploading.

    Hopefully it helps someone.

I'm not sure if I understand exactly what you're trying to say happened here, but it sounds like you had images of different filetypes for the SAME product. (ie: some images are PNGs and some are JPGs) If this is the case, you should go through the IH2 readme again.. There is a section in the readme where we've explicity included information about mixed file formats used as product images for a single product. All images for any single product MUST be the same file format.. Please review IH2 the readme for the details..

BTW, Firefox or any other browser does not dictate what file format your images are saved in.. The saving is all a function of IH2, the format is based on the images you've uploaded..

Whoever originally uploaded the images (I inherited this cart) apparently saved the images as .gif however with the .jpg extension.

So I had XXXX.jpg -> Which was actually a .gif file

Looks like about half of my images are actually .gif's wearing the wrong extension (.jpg)

Image handler didn't know what to do. Apparently Firefox and IE don't bother with what the extension is and actually check what kind of file it is internally..

This wasn't IH2's fault in anyway (unless you chastize it for not being super smart and just believing that a said extension is the file format). Once I changed the filename to .gif and pointed Zen Cart at the new file IH2 behaved correctly.

So now I'm manually going through my live store and fixing extensions.. using my beta store and IH2 as a guide to what's screwed up. Later I'll recopy my Live store to beta.. reinstall IH2 and presto.. it should work like magic.

This stores a mess anyway.. I've been meaning to manually go through just about every product!!! :)

A batch renaming program will make this a lot easier.. Try this one:

So I don't see anything in this thread, but I downloaded the latest version of IH2, rev 7, and I don't see a folder called "Optional Extras". Is there a folder or is it specific files in the package?

If you can't find it, consider yourself lucky..

It seems that I did not have the latest version installed, I thought I did because it was only about 2 months ago that I had installed it. I went ahead and installed the latest version from the downloads area here and my issue seems to be fixed!

    Lesson learned: always update!

    Default Image Handler and EZ-Pages

    Hi All,

I assume that the answer is that it can't be done or isn't implemented but thought I would ask the question:

Is there a way to use Image Handler on EZ-Pages? I actually want to display product images in an EZ-Page format, does anyone know if a quick dip using php code would yield an image that has all of the logic of IH2 applied to it?

    Many thanks,
    BH

    Default SEO and Image Handler

    Greetings,

First I would like to thank the developers of IH2, this addon is invaluable in making a ZC site look and act professional and competitive.

My question would be if there are any plans or workarounds to get control of the image names as pops out of the caching process? We added a lot to the product image names for SEO purposes and it would be great if there was a way to try return some relevance to the resulting URL.

We do see the Alt tags working and we are talking about renaming our products at the risk of cluttering up the human experience so that we can seed the SEO with more information. - unfortunately it looks like we have to modify the visible title to do this and not just the semi-visible Alt tags themselves.

Even being able to rename the caching directory structure would allow us to be able to get some more words in the URL that we would like picked up by the SE's.

Thanks again for a great prod,
    BH

Is it possible to use IH2 to upload the same image on multiple products (applications)? If so, how do I do that, any particular settings that I am missing?

I have IH2 v2.0 rev 7. Thanks for your help.
    Thank you,
    autoace
