try to remember that open source is not simply a means of ensuring something is "free". it allows a broader development and support base than that which might normally be hamstrung through the politics and commercialism of shrink wrapped products.

if you truly wanted a custom solution that fits your needs but don't have the time, patience, or ability to figure out how to do it using zen-cart then perhaps you should be paying a developer? the trouble is, you're idea of organisation, standard tasks and common features is probably different to mine, so who's right? would you prefer a bloated product that fits every possible niche (and subsequently performs like a dog on prozac), or something that does what the majority of e-commerce platforms really need, and leaves the rest up to the community?

i also have found it takes some time to search the forums when i need a very specific answer, but strangely enough (and ive hardly touched PHP or mySQL before using zen-cart) i seem to have come up with a solution every time.

if you can find it in yourself, try to be a little less critical of the people and the product that *might* not suit your purpose, as it really isn't all that bad : )
