Obviously after testing you install on live site.
Yes, contib automates creation of sitemaps.
You can either submit from admin in two steps anytime or set up cron job.

    Thanks for the reply ckosloff,

So just to confirm, I'm right in thinking this contrib does NOT send off any sitemaps automatically... I have to initiate the process... correct?

    Thanks.

The answer to this was simple in the end, it's nothing I did and nothing broke, the server guys decided to block outgoing requests for security reasons, (IP Blocking in connections manager) I just wished they told clients...anyway put a tick in the allow and whammo!!!..

Can anyone shed any light on why a CRON job for Sitemaps is returning this message:

    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN">
    <html><head>
    <title>406 Not Acceptable</title>
    </head><body>
    <h1>Not Acceptable</h1>
<p>An appropriate representation of the requested resource /index.php could not be found on this server.</p>
    <p>Additionally, a 404 Not Found
error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.</p>
    </body></html>

Everyting is installed correctly and Google is indexing the sitemaps. Everything except Yahoo seems to be working fine.

I have Zen 1.3.8a and installed the sitemapxml v 2.1.0. I uploaded the files, then the first time, I ran the sql patch by uploading the file, but then I read that you have to copy and past the file using wordpad, then click send. I went to admin>config> and set the language file to false, I went to tools>sitemap xml> I then get this error
"The requested URL /admin/FILENAME_SITEMAPXML.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

My sitemap files in the root are empty. I have no idea what to do next. Please tell me what I am doing wrong.

I tried putting my site into a different xml sitemap generator and it came back with zenids at the end of each path. However, I did not upload this file to my site, I only looked.

    My site is located at www. c o o k i e t o p p e r s .com

    I appreciate your help!
I have exactly the same problem. Did you find the answer to this?

Just installed. Didn't seem to have any problems and it looked like everything was going fine until I started playing around with the settings. It appears nothing is working in the configuration area. I've tried changing Lastmod tag format, Generate language_id for default language, and Category changefreq and none of them cause the xml files to be any different.

During each change I completely deleted the xml files as leaving them be would not cause them to be updated because nothing had changed.

    1.3.8a zencart with SSU installed.

I guess I'll try looking at install.sql and the internal files for Sitemap and try to figure out why nothing is being picked up.

Well I think I got it licked. I thought perhaps I'd try uninstalling / installing the .sql again and see if that helped. But instead of using Zen Carts internal SQL patcher I used good ole phpmyadmin.

Got an error.. none of the tables were right since my cart uses a db prefix. So I fixed this in the SQL and the uninstall went through.

Fixing this for the install.sql seemed to do the trick. It installed just fine.

One note however. If you generate a sitemap, then change a configuration, manually delete that sitemap before you generate a new one. Otherwise the old one stays around because there was nothing to update.
