Trying to transfer info from one DB to another getting admin error please help

I was hacked earlier and had to to a fresh install. I am a novice at this so just think of me as a stupid women!

I reinstalled got a new db but I kept the old db so that I still have my customers details and order history.

I want the old info on the new db I have tried importing the old db files to the new db files and it throws up:

0 DB_ERROR_NOT_CONNECTED
in:
[select * from zen_project_version WHERE project_version_key = 'Zen-Cart Database' ]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

What am i doing wrong I need all that old info in the new db but just cant figure it out please someone give me a helping hand.

Thank you soooooo much I got there in the end a few mistakes down the line but all down to my reading skills.
