See if changing the ot_shipping.php module around line 35 for the IF to:

        if ( ($pass == true) && ( ($order->info['total'] - $order->info['shipping_cost'] - $order->info['tax']) >= MODULE_ORDER_TOTAL_SHIPPING_FREE_SHIPPING_OVER) ) {

works better for you on the tax issue ...

This is not a complete fix, but can work in many circumstances ...

I will give your fix a shot and see what happens. I am using Zen Cart 1.3.8a, with numinix's Fast and Easy Checkout (with COWOA). Ah yes, California is the only taxed zone - guess that would be helpful to know for the debugging, eh? Thanks!

I placed two orders, one for $24.95 plus tax and one for $249.90 plus tax and in both cases I had shipping charges ...

There are many calculations with prices and taxes and totals ... and this appears to be a good temporary fix ... but I am not needing it in v1.3.8 nor in the new versions that we are working on ...

So ... this is a temporary fix for those who have broken things, such as you ...

Hi,

I am using ZC ver. 1.3.8a (patched). I have custom folders and the only MOD I am using is Stock by Attributes ver. 1.4.9

I am currently using only three Shipping Modules: 1. Store Pickup, 2. Flat Rate and 3. Free Shipping Options

Store Pickup is fine, but with the other two, whenever I select my_zone, the status lights become yellow; okay I understand this probably because these options are available for one zone only - I have define a single zone only as I do not intend shipping outside my zone.

Problem is the Free Shipping Options, which becomes valid if amount >= x, and Flat Rate, both are not coming up when I try to check out. When I change the zone in these two to -none-, everything falls into order.

I have not defined any tax class as I live in a different country.

I have tried almost all of what has been suggested on this thread but to no avail.

Well the problem is solved. For those in similar fix, here is a brief description of why shipping modules were not working:

When I had created my testing account to check the cart, there were no zones defined. Now that customized zones have been defined, my state option was not matching the new customized zones. After selecting the state according to current zones in my login account the problem solved!
