Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

Right now, when SSU creates aliases, it automatically puts the separator character (ie: -) in for single quotes. For example:

I have a category titled: Mom's Calendars
SSU makes this alias: mom-s-calendars

Is there any reason why and is there a way to change it so it would read: moms-calendars by default?

The aliases and caching aspect of SSU baffles me a bit. I've tried multiple times to change aliases, making sure a specific URL had only one alias for it enabled, cleared the cache, but it doesn't take on the front-end. It's a really confusing process that I don't really understand.

There was a point where I completely deleted all of the URL aliases, which aliases marked on in the config, cleared the cache, and it was still processing the aliases on the front-end.

your filename is wrong.. you need to rename it and remove the .txt extension. The filename should be .keep NOT .keep.txt

Thank you. I have finally made the warning message disappeared!
Now at Module Manager, when i click update to the "modules" and "module_manager", the patch_level is "-1" and a warning message of

Version number found in current_version.txt is not a positive integer

appears.

Why is my patch_level "-1"? Is it ok having the non positive integer?

Right now, I guess I have installed the SSU and trying to have my URL changed. Below are the example I did at the "Aliases Function" column.

2 /http://www.yourpreciousgifts.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=101/ /http://www.yourpreciousgifts.com/keyrings/ Enabled Yes
1 /http://www.yourpreciousgifts.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=94/ /http://www.yourpreciousgifts.com/plush_bears/ Enabled Yes

However, when I check back at my site, the URL is still not changed from http://www.yourpreciousgifts.com/ind...ndex&cPath=101 to http://www.yourpreciousgifts.com/keyrings.

Can anyone tell me how do you change your URL using SSU?

This rewrite rule has worked for me well on several sites:-

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^catering-and-industrial-temperature-supplies.co.uk [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.catering-and-industrial-temperature-supplies.co.uk/$1 [R=301,L]

Unfortunately on http://www.catering-and-industrial-t...supplies.co.uk it stops the categories working,that is, when you click on a category it does not take you to the products.

Would anybody know why that is please ?????

This may or may not help as I don't use this mod, but my rewrite rule is configured a little different. Maybe give it a try and see if it solves your problem.

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^http://www.catering-and-industrial-t...supplies.co.uk
RewriteRule (.*) http://catering-and-industrial-temperature-supplies.co.uk/$1 [R=301,L]

I tried this and it did not give the error but it did not do anything at all.
For you does it take non-www URLS and convert them to www ?

Also I don't think it is anything to do with the SEO URL and incidentally I use CEON. I think it is just trhe rewrite rule.
The only difference I think I dave with this site is that the URL length is longer!!!

Has anyone any ideas?

Whenever changing description names or category names always clear your cache in admin/eatras/simple seo url manager. Once you have set your Aliases to whatever you want it to be clear your cache. The URLS will change then.

I have cleared the cache and put on the aliases, eg. I want to change http://www.yourpreciousgifts.com/ind...index&cPath=94 to http://www.yourpreciousgifts.com/plush_bears/
So, in the aliases, I set it like the picture below:

http://www.yourpreciousgifts/images/SSU1a.jpg

But however, I am still getting the unchanged URL in my website like below:

http://www.yourpreciousgifts/images/SSU2a.jpg

Can you point out what's wrong?

Hi countrycharm, I think you can just ignore my post. I had finally figured that I had missed the part to turn on the configuration. Huh.... really a big mistake that I have overlooked. Anyway, really thanks for all the helps from this forum!
