Unwanted text above header

I've copied my active server onto another domain (using https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...hp?article=100) in order to test some changes that I will make to the site - however for some reason a '0.00' has appeared above the header (and even above the 'down for maintenance' banner) ... I have copied the original files back (to try to eliminate the file causing the issue) and this text is still there..>>

can anyone suggest a fix because it is driving me mad..

I would use the Developers Tool Kit to search for '0.00' to see where it might be coming from. In a stock Zencart installation, there aren't that many files (18) where that string appears.

The "format" of this looks like it could belong to a "shopping cart value" that was (once) part of a header.

Does the "text" change - say to 9.95, if you add a product to the cart that costs 9.95?

thanks - no it doesn't.. unfortunately .. but it is removed when I replace my customised 'english.php' with the original but I cannot figure why - there isn't a '0.00' in that file..

all a bit strange > if there are any suggestions as to why please comment.

What software did you use to edit that language file?

... incidentally I went through the changes one by one and the problem was that I hadn't included some new entries that I had previously included - this doesn't explain why it displayed '0.00' but or why it was at the very top of the screen but if anyone should come across that study your 'english.php' file.

Therein lies your problem***... php files should be edited ONLY in a plain text editor, such as Emerald Editor, or Notepad++.

Put Dreamweaver back in its box and store the box in your loft or shed.

***(Unless you are fully aware of how to use DW to manage php material).

surely that has nothing to do with it - the code is still the same

If you use anything other than a plain text editor it can add "invisible" characters into the file, change the character set the file is saved with, and mess with line breaks and returns. Some of these things can make a site behave weird while hiding the cause from easy view.
