WHY Can't this SQL be Restored from my cPanel backup?

I do an SQL backup every night via Cpanel Admin. Why can't it be restored?? I have restored Cpanel backups before via just a DB backup file..

AND, if NOT than WHAT kind of backup of the SQL DB SHOULD I be doing everynight?

A cpanel backup is NOT the same as an SQL backup. Cpanel backups are generally compressed archives of your entire website, and therefore need to be decompressed before using them for restoration.

SQL backups are nothing more than simple text files, usually with a ".sql" file extension.

Thanks. Yes, I understand the Cpanel backup is compressed.
But, for a scenario where I have to move to a completely different server, what do I need to be backing up to prepare for that scenario?

Apparently, just a Cpanal Backup of
the DB cannot be restored on a NEW server. BUT, I've been told to make sure to do SQL backups using MYPHP Admin. ? And that DB backup could be restored anywhere...?

Thanks. Any creative ideas on doing a REAL Restore test to confirm validity of the Backups? I mean without having to do an actual restore over the live DB

Yea create a new database thats not actually attached to anything and run your sql file
