SitemapXML v.2

Hi,

I've just tried to install sitemapXML, but I'm a little bit lost I think...

As per instructions document:

Install:
========
1. Unzip and upload all files to your store directory;
2. Go to Admin->Tools->Install SQL Patches and install install.sql.
3. Go to Admin->Configuration->Google Sitemap Configuration and setup all parameters
4. Go to Admin->Tools>Google XML Sitemap (If error messages occur, change permissions on the XML files to 777);

My questions:

1. Presumably I shouldn't be putting the install.sql and uninstal.sql into my store root folder should I?
2. This step went OK.
3. This was OK, except it is now called Sitemap XML in the menu.
4. THERE IS NO ADMIN>TOOLS>Sitemap XML option. Should I have a menu option here to click on???

I'm running zencart 1.3.9f with no other mods.

Now that it is presumably installed, how do I generate the sitemaps?

That is correct, you shouldn't have uploaded theses at all. You open up the install.sql statement and copy and paste it into you admin/tools/install_sql_patches. You then should have what you are missing under tools. If you get an error after trying to create a sitemap follow these instructions.

Invalid URLs in the site map

I've installed simple seo url with link alias on. When I generate the sitemaps all my products URLs are generated as follows.

http://www.mysite.co.uk/-c-0/products_name1
http://www.mysite.co.uk/-c-0/products_name2
http://www.mysite.co.uk/-c-0/products_name3

etc


But the categories URLs are correct.

Have I done something wrong ? Can someone help me to fix this error.

Hope this is an easy fix....a few other people had similar issues but couldn't find a reply that fixed them.

Whenever I try and generate my sitemaps from within admin, I get:

All the files are CHMOD 777 - and have also experimented with 644.

The configuration group works fine.

XML Parsing Error: no element found
Location: http://www.[mysite].com/sitemapcategories.xml
Line Number 1, Column 1:

Obv I've change my site domain to [mysite] :-)

Been wandering the forums looking for a solution for the last 3 hours without success.

Also - the file googlesitemap.php.txt - should I be removing the .txt off the end? Nothing in the instructions about it. I tested doing that but no joy :-(

Thanks for the response, but I tried to follow the instructions and didn't have any joy.

In /includes/.htaccess there was no line with:


<FilesMatch ".*\.(js|JS|css|CSS|jpg|JPG|gif|GIF|png|PNG|swf|SWF)$">

(It also wasn't in /.htaccess)

The content was:

<Files *.php>
Order Deny,Allow
Deny from all
</Files>

I did put in the line below and test - but no joy:

<FilesMatch ".*\.(js|JS|css|CSS|jpg|JPG|gif|GIF|png|PNG|swf|SWF|xsl|XSL)$">


Was I looking in the wrong place?

Ahh ok buddy, sorry but the fix I was talking relates to Zen Cart v1.3.9x (due to the introduction of .htaccess based safety measures throughout the various Zen Cart directories).

Thanks countrycharm, but what you've said here doesn't seem to be correct.

I have already copy and pasted the install.sql contents into the admin/tools/install_sql_patches section which then went ahead and created a menu entry under configuration/sitemap xml which lets me change the various settings.

What I don't have is any new menu items under the Tools menu to allow me to create sitemaps. I've taken a look through the sql statements in the install.sql file, and all that seems to do is create the menu entry under configuration/sitemap xml.

I'm not getting any errors when generating a sitemap as I don't have an option anywhere to generate one.

Any further help on this would be greatly appreciated.
