    Default Re: Recover Cart

I can't make it work. The install looks perfect -- all three menus in Admin look fine and all files are where they are supposed to be, but Admin Tools RCS shows nothing when something is sitting in my cart. I even checked the option for ignoring session data (set False) so that an active cart would get noticed, and still nothing. Any simple (or complicated) explanation for why this tool is not working for me after what appears to be a clean install?
    many thanks.

This contributing won't show 'active' carts (like you find in the "who's online tool"). It will only show those carts which have been abandoned (for those who have logged into the system.)

Depending on the session settings of your server (default is usually 20 mins) it would take that amount of time for an abandon to show.

    Here's how it works:

    1) Add something to your cart

    2) Login to your account

    3) Do not complete the purchase but leave the item in the cart (so you can leave the site.)

    4) Don't return for say 20 mins (might be longer on your server but again, the default the session time limit is usually this).

    5) Login to your admin (give it about an hour to be sure) and then check the recover carts tool. You should see the abandoned cart there on the screen with the email addy etc... of the person that left and the items that were in the cart. From here you can send them the email to follow-up.)

So basically, the cart is not considered abandoned until the session expires (or else it could still be active and therefore should not be sent a follow-up email.)

See if that works for you.

    Thanks, Eric, I'll try that.

Could you please clarify the following setting? The wording is very confusing. The word 'ignore' is used to explain both options for the setting. Does True mean that customers with an active session will be listed in Tools RCS as an abandoned cart, and that False means that customers w/ active session won't be listed as having abandoned cart? Or is it all the other way (opposite) of that?

If you want the tool to ignore customers with an active session (ie, probably still shopping) set this to true.

Setting this to false will operate in the default manner of ignoring session data & using less resources

Set this to true. It does take more resources, but if a user has an active session you certainly do NOT want them appearing in the 'abandoned carts' area (as they are still shopping.)

You only want them to show in there if their session has ended.

I don't know whether I've done something wrong when installing this great mod, but I've just noticed the email that is sent out to the potential customers gives out the link to my admin logon page.....not good to say the least.

The bug is in the copyright text at the bottom of the email.
I've had to change my EMAIL_FOOTER_COPYRIGHT define in admin/includes/languages/english/email_extras.php to hard code my website rather than use zen_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT)

Has anyone else come across this?
Looks like I now need to rename my admin folder again

That is really odd. I have never come across that with this. I'd be interested to know if others have or are experiencing the same thing?

You shouldn't have to hard code anything for it to work (without providing that url).

How is the link presented to them? (what type or terminology is used to present the link to them?

They should have a link to their login page (not the admin though.)

I just tested it on a few sites of mine and none of the emails that were generated include a link to the admin.

What other admin mods do you have installed? Could one of these made alterations to your language file etc??

In the meantime, if anyone else has experienced this same thing, please post it here (just that you have had the same thing occur.)

    Hi Eric,
The link is presented just after the 'Login to your account' section as follows:

    Copyright (c) 2011 Snow Republic.

The company name (Snow Republic) in the actual link.

When I send an email through recover cart sales, I just use the default settings. I don't type anything in the message text box.
I just select the people I want to message then hit the send button.

After a bit more digging, I realised it was all emails that had the link to my admin area not just the recover cart sales ones.

I found the solution here http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=131766

Looks like I wasn't the only one to make a mess of this!

Glad you got it working and thanks for posting a link to the answer. I didn't think it sounded module related and more sounded along the lines of something that was caused due to other customization issues.

    Thanks!
