Login page->Newsletter->Mailchimp

Hi there,

I have a few questions (maybe wishes) about the login page.

If a new customer signs up, I have a newsletter checkbox at the bottom of the log in page. I would like to have the data that the new customer just entered directed to the mailchimp subscribe list.

When it gets sent, it would be nice to have the IP address (from the new customer) logged into the subscription list (mailchimp)...to verify the opt-in process.

This way I don't have to manually enter the data and I will also have a verified IP opt-in, should I need to prove their subscription.

Right now when someone signs up as a new customer, I have to manually go in, click their name, and see if they want to subscribe. Then I have to enter that into mailchimp....and I don't have proof.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Happy~

Re: Login page->Newsletter->Mailchimp

Integrating newsletter signup with the login page is on my list, but it's not going to use the IP Address; it's going to require double-opt in per the MailChimp TOS. For the time being, use the MailChimp sidebox and encourage them to subscribe themselves - you should not be entering their email address and subscribing them. MC sidebox is in the downloads section.

Keep an eye on the downloads area. I have this project tentatively scheduled for late Oct/early Nov.

Re: Login page->Newsletter->Mailchimp

This might sound like a stupid question but I've added the mailchimp sidebox with no problems at all.

How do I know if someone has subscribed? Where is the email address stored?

I can't seem to find the email addresses I've added anywhere. If they use the mailchimp subscirbe box will their details automatically be updated directly to mail chimp?

Thanks

Re: Login page->Newsletter->Mailchimp

I've just deleted the two email addresses I was using to test mail chimp and re added them using the subscribe button and it does automatically update the list in mailchimp.

Yes - that's the idea. To see them, login to your MailChimp account and look at the list you added them to; you'll see them there.

I will announce it as soon as it's ready. It is on my list of things to do.

Re: Login page->Newsletter->Mailchimp

maybe a start is to rewrite from CubeCart. This is a interesting link.
