Re: How do change my sites HEIGHT ? not width..

This thread discusses that, but I think the answer is to have enough content on your pages to fill the screen.

While I understand wanting to have the fluid layout that 100% width provides, you may want to have a look at your site on some large monitors - it looks very sparse when viewed on a full screen window that is 1600+ pixels wide.

I would suggest using some space on the sides and a maximum width -

Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

Re: How do change my sites HEIGHT ? not width..

Thanks for your replies....one of the links that was given to me shoudl some code that needed t be changed in the CSS file but i couldnt find it ? In any case i understand what you are saying KIM because i have a 20" screen with reso at 1680px wide and the site does look sparse.

I thought i was suppose to look that way and that i needed to change the the sizes for the boxes ,images etc....alot of work i figured but i figure it might be best to just leave some space on the side,not sure yet since most websites are FULL page....

any other comments are welcome ;-)

You can just add the particular statement to your stylesheet if it isn't there already.

I'm not all that fond of full-width sites unless they have a lot of content on each page (Amazon.com, for example).

You have your mainWrapper set to 1200px. Many people run their screens at 1024 X 768, which means they'll see horizontal scroll bars. 800 or 900 make more sense, I think.

You also might get started on making the file sizes of your images much smaller - the images you're using now slow your site down considerably.

Re: How do change my sites HEIGHT ? not width..

Stevesh: Thanks for the tips,i actually chose to reduce the size to 900px and i will also make the pictures smaller.......

Can anyone explain to me how i can move "HOME" and "LOG IN" which are presently in the top left corner to the position just above the search bar on the right. (searched for hours but i cant get it to work :S)

I would also like to put my banner flush to the top of the screen.

If anyone can help me i would really appreciate it ;-)

Re: How do change my sites HEIGHT ? not width..

The following link provides a solution to the 100% height problem:

http://www.pmob.co.uk/temp/3colfluidtest_4.htm

This arrangement uses negative margins for the center column, which encapsulates the side columns, and for the footer, which will always sit either at the bottom of the screen or at the bottom of the longest column with content.

"to change home, login at top header to right

find this portion in stylesheet.css

.back { float: left;
}"

This will affect hundreds of elements throughout your site. Do not do it this way!

Be specific in what you want to affect, and add to your stylesheet```
#navMain {float: right;}

#navMainSearch {clear: right;}

    <li class="back2"><a href="<?php echo zen_href_link(FILENAME_ACCOUNT, '', 'SSL'); ?>"><span><?php echo HEADER_TITLE_MY_ACCOUNT; ?></span></a></li>
