How do my customers get access to their downloads after payment?

Hi,

I'm setting up my Zen Cart store for the first time. Some of the products in my store are downloadable .PDF eBooks. I can do a test order, using Authorize.net, and purchase an eBook. Then since it is a download, Zen Cart provides a message on the Thank you page saying that the download will be available once the credit card payment is approved.

However, since I'm still in Authorize.net Test Mode, I can't test any further.

So, I'm thinking, I can't really TEST downloading downloadable products until we're using ACTUAL credit cards? Is this correct?

Then, what is the process, for example, when a customer's card is approved? Does the customer get an email saying their card has been approved, and PROVIDE A LINK to a special download page? How does that work?

try using the default cc module.
once the order is placed change the status of the order to shipped

( note you wont have to do this with authorize.net since teh status will auto change when the payment is received.. )

I'm not sure what you mean by the default cc module. However, I'm using the Authorize.net AIM module.

I did a test order for a downloadable product, and then I manually changed it to "Delivered" in Zen Cart.

I then received an email from Zen Cart saying the order had been updated to "Delivered," but there was no link included in the email for going to a download page.

But, I noticed that the customer order in Zen Cart/customer account now includes a download button. Still, the customer needs to know to go to his account in Zen Cart to find the download button.

Is there something else I must configure?

I also just discovered that by changing the order status to "processing" the customer gets a DOWNLOAD button on the Thank You page.

But there is still no Download LINK on the Order Confirmation email... even though the email contains text that says: "Download Zip file"

Is this correct?
