Storefront loads fast; admin loads very slow

The load times on my storefront and my back end are inconsistant with each other. My front end seems to have no major issues with load time, but very frequently, the admin side pages take a lot wait (20, 30 seconds, longer...) Even just the root admin folder, loading the login page. Some pages take longer than others, but they all take a lot longer than the front end. This is only recently; it was not an issue on my old zen 1.2 installation, and it wasn't the case throughout my installtion of the new 1.3 version, but ever since it went live, this has seemed to be an issue, even when the store is down for maintainance. Anyone have any thoughts?

That doesn't seem to make any difference. The admin side is still rather slow. And while the admin is loading, at the same time, PHPMyAdmin is very slow to load pages in my Zencart database (other databases load fine). It's very weird. This is with almost any admin page. A Config page, a module page... stuff that doesn't involve large database queries. It just takes forever. Thoughts?

What are the page parse times for the front end?

admin is ALWAYS going to be slower,
alot of it has to do with Legacy code
