easiest way to change the default category navigation into a table navigation

Hi All,

Was hoping somone can help me. i want to change the look of my navigation on the right. Basically i want a table that highlights each cell on hover. I know how to make the table and how to code the CSS for it but what is the best way remove or change the current navigation to a table?

There are a couple of mods in the downloads section that will do what you want without having to create a table.
