PayPal orders not in Admin or generating Order email

Eek. Major problem here.

Last night we got an order through our website. It was paid via credit card, generated an Order Confirmation email and contained the correct order number, 1226.

This morning I got a 'payment received' email from PayPal.

Item #1
TheWindCutter.com purchase

I know that is what it's supposed to say.

PROBLEM:

I don't know what they ordered! This was the only email I received and the order does not show when I log in to the ZC Admin. Under orders processing it says, "2" but clicking over to the 'Orders Listing' page it only shows the one order from last night. Searching by order ID 3 does show an old test order from Sept. 27th but that's it. (Even after the two other test orders I describe below. They don't show up either.)

MY ATTEMPTS AT TROUBLESHOOTING:

  • I uninstalled and reinstalled the PayPal IPN payment module.

  • I completed a test order using a PayPal e-check for payment. Payment process went smoothly and I ended back at my site and the message...

"Thank You! We Appreciate your Business!
Your Order Number is: 3"

RED FLAG MOMENT: The order number should be 1227, shouldn't it?

  • Tried another order, this time paying directly from PayPal account balance (not e-check). Same as before, went smoothly, arrived back at my site with the message...

"Thank You! We Appreciate your Business!
Your Order Number is: 3"

RED FLAG: What? Order number 3 again??

Hmm. Now what? :(

This is our just launched, updated site. It's a fresh install of v.1.3.8, patched to 1.3.8a.

I hope someone knows how I can fix this. Pronto!

Thanks for reading,
Rebekah

Re: PayPal orders not in Admin or generating Order email

I just logged into my test account and looked at order history. There's NO orders there at all. Both the test orders I just did were made through this account.

Help?

I also noticed in the Admin, 'Customers' screen, in the info about the new customer (the person who made the PayPal order) it says, "Number of Orders: 0", but he definitely paid through PayPal for an order.

Re: PayPal orders not in Admin or generating Order email

I just want to thank Mike (Barco57) and Tony (Merlinpa) for their help in fixing this issue. Thank you guys VERY MUCH!

Turns out somehow I had a mixture of old and new files interfering with my PayPal payment process. They tracked down the problem and it is now fixed. Yea!

I also corrected (at PayPal) my IPN URL which was pointing to my old shop.

Corrected here:

Profile|Selling Preferences|Instant Payment Notification Preferences|Instant Payment Notification (IPN) URL: [Location of your ipn_main_handler.php file]

I also corrected (at PayPal, under 'Website Payment Preferences') the Return URL which was pointing to my old shop as well.

I'm now receiving the email from ZC and it has the correct order number. Orders are showing up in the Admin now too, so I won't have to ask people what they ordered! :lookaroun

Couldn't have done it with Mike and Tony.

(No, I don't get paid to say that, it's just true!)
