Relay Server for email on Godaddy

I am installing zencart on a godaddy host. the email system provides a confirmation that emails were successfully sent but they disappear into a black hole. Godaddy does not support zencart but told me to specify a relay server for the outgoing emails. Can somebody tell me how and where to set up the relay server in the code. BTW, I'm no PHP guru but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night :smartalec:

And how did you sleep??

admin > config > email options > setup your smtp server options...will need to find out from GD what the settings are...

Godaddy does not support zencart
Strange - - they flip-flop on if they do or do not support Zen Cart...

Re: Relay Server for email on Godaddy

I was trying to use the php option. Godaddy's formmail script works great without setting up SMTP. I can't seem to find where the server for the php mailer script can be specified or overridden in zencart.

Re: Relay Server for email on Godaddy

OK, Now that the problem is solved (hopefully), I'll share my solution:

No PHP code changes involved here! :lamo:

Go to the email configuration page in the ADMIN system.

I was only able to get SMTP method to work.

I had to use the mail relay server "relay-hosting.secureserver.net" provided by godaddy as the smtp host. This may be different for your machine - contact godaddy to confirm the name of the Mail Relay Server for your configuration.

You must set the email to be sent from a known domain to YES. This forces the emails to use the SENT FROM address you will set up next.

You must use an email address like [email protected] (though not required to be an actual mailbox) in the SENT FROM option.
:shocking: VERY IMPORTANT==> The email address must contain your domain in the address.

SMTP Account MAILBOX and PASSWORD should be blank.

Try testing with the "Tell a friend" feature.

Do not send an email to yourself from yourself when testing.

The email will come from [email protected] ( or whatever you set up above). The user entered email address will be in the "Reply To" field of the email. When the recipient replies, the email will go to the email address entered by the user, not back to [email protected]

Have you logged a support ticket with GoDaddy about it yet?

MrSamD,
I just installed Zen Cart 1.3.8a on a GoDaddy Windows server. I was unable to send emails until I tried your solution. It worked perfectly!

The GoDaddy Customer Support Rep adamantly stated that GoDaddy does not support Zen Cart and that she could not confirm any of the email settings. But at the time of this posting "relay-hosting.secureserver.net" is still the proper setting for the "SMTP Email Mail Host" on the "E-Mail Options" page of the Zen Cart Admin panel.

Thank you for taking the time to post a solution! You saved me from a lot of frustration.

Re: Relay Server for email on Godaddy

The SMTP method for GoDaddy worked perfectly for me. Thanks!

PS - I used SMTP, not SMTPauth in the email settings.
