Why is it asking for billing info when item is free?

Why is it asking for billing info when item is free?

I am offering free desktop wallpaper. I don't understand why it's asking the customer for their billing information (address, phone, etc.) when it's free.

Is there a way to get around this? Not all of my stuff is free so I don't want to make a change that will affect the entire store.

did you click the botton that said this istem is free when setting up the product

Thanks for the reply. Yes, when I set them up I selected the "this product is free" radio button. I have also tried different combinations of the "product is virtual" and "always free shipping" selections but nothing is working for me.
