How do I change the width of site to a static a size

Hi all,
I'm having a few problems with changing the width of my site, I would like my site to be viewed in 1024 pixels. This is because if someone views my site with an upto date graphics card that is viewing above the 1024 pixels the site is stretched and my header is a jpg that we fixed, so you get two blank pieces at each end of header. I changed the stylesheet.css to as follows:

includes/templates/template_default/css/stylesheet.css

#mainWrapper {
background-color: #ffffff;
text-align: left;
width: 1024px;
vertical-align: top;

After making these changes it made no difference.

Can anybody help!

My site address is http://www.purenewyou.com
This is the main address that then links through to my shop
which is http://www.purenewyou.com/shop

I would be most grateful if anyone could help.

Cheers,
Pete

Re: How do I change the width of site to a static a size

Whatever change you made didn't get into the stylesheet that your site is using now:

/*wrappers - page or section containers was 757px wide*/
#mainWrapper {
	background-color: #ffffff;
	text-align: left;
	width: 100%;
	vertical-align: top;
	border: 1px solid #9a9a9a;
	}
```How did you try to save the stylesheet changes?
You are using the /classic/ template - I strongly suggest you make a set of custom template folders to save your changes. See the tutorials at top of this page. This will protect your customizations from being erased when you upgrade to a new version.
