Special shipping instructions

How can I add a Special Shipping Instructions field to my checkout area? I also want to add a message with some instructions above this field. Thanks.

There is a comment section. You could change the text box description with a simple code hack.

This is what I did.

You need to "hack" the following files:

1. in:- templates/template_default/templates/tpl_checkout_shipping_default.php

find the following line:

<legend><?php echo TABLE_HEADING_COMMENTS; ?></legend>

Directly underneath it, insert:

<div id "customShippingText"><?php echo CUSTOM_SHIPPING_TEXT; ?></div>

SAVE the file as tpl_checkout_shipping_default.php on your HARD DRIVE. Then FTP it to:- templates/YOUR-CUSTOM-TEMPLATE/templates/tpl_checkout_shipping_default.php

2. Open the following file for editing in the same way as you did for 1. above:

languages/english/checkout_shipping.php

and find the following line:

define('TABLE_HEADING_COMMENTS', 'Special Instructions or Comments About Your Order');

Directly underneath it, insert the following:

define('CUSTOM_SHIPPING_TEXT', 'And-you-will-type-your-special-shipping-message-here');

Save the file on your hard drive:

(While you're about it, you may also want to change the text for Table Heading Comments as well - see above. Currently it's probably 'Special Instructions or Comments About Your Order' )

Save the file to hard drive.

Then, FTP it to:

languages/english/YOUR-CUSTOM-TEMPLATE/checkout_shipping.php

Now, you have what you want...

... and as we've included a style ID in the DIV, you will be able to create a style if you want to, for** #customShippingText** in your stylesheet.css.
