Which shipping module do i want?? Going insane please help :(

Hey guys,

I have spent over 10 hours on this and im going insane. Looked through the forums but nothing is making sense to me.

I am trying to achieve the following:

Shipping to 4 possible zones within 1 country only:

Zone 1 - Free
Zone 2 - $XX
Zone 3 - $YY
Zone 4 - POA

Ive tried using flat rate module and shipping zone add ons with no luck. The closest i get to is by creating Countries as those following zones, then have the country in my shipping options as my location. This isnt really ideal for obvious reasons.

We only ship to australia, So im really trying to define this for the 1 country.

Also, No discounts for multiple items. No difference in pricing for different items. Its pretty basic, maybe what i want is too simple for all these technical modules? :(

Any suggestions?
Cheers! :bigups:

If these are all one rate for each area then try searching for "clone flat rate" as this can be cloned , named and used as flat rate for certian zones/sub-zones.

You will need to insure that your zones are setup correctly

What do you mean by "If these are all one rate for each area"

Zone 1 is Free ($0) , Zone 2 will be an amount ? (say $50), Zone 3 ($100), Zone 4 ($0.) POA ??

If your confused by the need for this system, Our product is rather large and bulky, however one policies is to offer Free shipping to Metro areas. We only sell 1 type of product available in slight variants (shipping costs the same regardless of the selection)

Hence we have created our own Map of Australia with our own zones. So all capitol cities are Zone 1, Then depending on the cost of transportation through our transport company we will adjust the figure for zone 2, and zone 3, and basically zone 4 is out in the middle of no where, which necessitates custom quoting for the shipping.

Hope this makes sense.

The Zone infrastructure in Zen Cart v1.3.x and earlier is based on Country+State/Province. It doesn't support divisions smaller than state/province.
If you need to define zones smaller than that, you'll have to experiment with an addon that attempts to do that, or write custom code for those specific requirements.

How did you get this to work ? I have defined my Zones into 4 zones. (Australia Zone 1, Australia Zone 2, Australia Zone 3, Australia Zone 4)

I have defined tax rates for each of these zones,
but when i go into the zoneflat shipping module, and select the zones, and the enter the prices etc... It remains a yellow symbol not green which indicates tax issues? Even though i have defined tax rates for each zone.

Also, Does this mean the person will have to have either "Australia Zone 1/2/3/4" As their address???

This is not really ideal as Australia Zone 1 doesnt actually exist...

Cheers

Looks like the problem im getting is with the user Address,

Because theyre entering state / province as per Australia and not my Australia zones map, i get the error

*"Not Available At This Time
Sorry, we are not shipping to your region at this time.
Please contact us for alternate arrangements." *

Any suggestions??

OK its back up again. See... i was trying to mail a gift certificate and that was the problem since the payment method I had entered was COD.

Just to let you know how I went about doing it:

  1. I added zones - I added as many zones as i needed for my country.
  2. Next I added zone defenition - for each zone I was shipping to.
  3. I installed the zones flat rate and included each zone defenition and added a price to it.

And it worked. Pm me if you need any help.

IF all of the US gets Free Shipping on ALL Products, then configure the Free Shipping Options freeoptions to show when Total >= 0 and setup a US Zone for it ...

Then, set the USPS shipping module with a Zone for all of the Rest of the World ...

Now, you will see only Free Shipping Options freeoptions for the US and only the USPS for the Rest of the World ...
