Quantity Total in Shopping Cart Sidebox with Quantity Discount Contribution

I am using the Quantity Discount Contribution...but in addition to showing the dollar amount of discount in the shopping cart sidebox I would like to also show the total quantity of all items being purchased as each item is added and shows up in the shopping cart sidebox. I know there is a shopping cart summary box that might give the same information...but I would prefer to keep the same information just in one box and not have the extra box. I have been playing around with the coding of the cart summary box, trying to insert it into the shopping cart sidebox.....but without success.

So can anyone assist me in getting the total quantity of items being purchased to show up in the Shopping Cart Sidebox?

Thanks.
