How to move from subdomain to new domain on same server?

I hope the title reads right. What I have is this:

https://www.mysite.com/shop

What I want is https://www.shop.com

all on the same server. I've been reading around and have just been getting confused about it. Can anyone point me to a set of basic instructions on how to do this?

Thanks

Re: How to move from subdomain to new domain on same server?

Thank you for the FAQ suggestion but I have already read that and it is not the answer to the question I have. Maybe I should be a little more specific.

Currently, I have a website for my clothing company. I have been running the site for a long while now. I added a shop (ZC) to it to sell my clothing from so my site is basically:

https://www.myclothingsite.com/shop

What I am asking for assistance with and what I want to to do is go back to just having a site (the original site) thats just about my company with company bio, product info and a list of places you can buy my products at:

https://www.myclothingsite.com

I want to take the shop portion (ZC) of the site and give it an entirely new URL but I will be hosting it on my same server. I have products, product listings, customization, customer accounts and sales on my shop and want to give the whole shop its own domain which means I will have the two of them:

https://www.myclothingsite.com
&
https://www.myclothingstore.com

Hopefully this makes sense.

Thanks again

Assuming you will set up another account on that same server in order to handle the 2nd domain, treat it as a server move, and follow the FAQ instructions. It'll be a lot simpler that way, rather than trying to explain how to edit all your paths without knowing what you're changing "from" and "to".

Hi,

I read the above suggested FAQ and what it is describing is this:

I have been building my ZC behind the scenes here:
http://www.mysite1.com/shop/

I am nearly ready to go live with it here:
http://www.mysite1.com/

And that's not what I am looking for. I am adding a new domain to my server and I want the new domain/directory to be the shop with ZC as the root while leaving my original domain in tact. In fact, now that I am thinking about it, maybe I'll just install a whole new ZC setup on the new domain instead of copying it over??? The members on my current shop are part of a group and can stay there and I'll just turn off registration (is that possible?) and then just make a new shop for the public. Is it possible to copy all of the customization from my first ZC and apply it to the new ZC?

I hope I didn't just seriously confuse this here...
