Slow Performance High Parse time

This site i'm doing has really bad parse times

The 1st time you load it it hangs for at least 5 seconds before loading..

http://www.carvideoscreen.com/

Is this something to do with the template and the CSS?

Anyone know of a template that is quick?

Re: Slow Performance High Parse time

On first hit, the following happens:
gethostbyaddr is run on the customer and if your hosting provider does not keep the tables active and current then this has to be searched for ...

First hit is activating the MySQL and if your site is not active, there are delays ... more activitiy the fast things will work, providing your hosting provider has MySQL optimally configured ...

Example: I use one browser and go to Tweeters and get a slow slow time ... I then go in another browser and hit Tweeters and get a fast time ...

My first browser session got the MySQL querries cached for the "next" person ...

Based on this, I think the gethostbyaddr is not really an issue for you, as my 3rd browser on first hit came up with:

Parse Time: 0.286 - Number of Queries: 120 - Query Time: 0.082899805252075

As your MySQL cache buids and your site becomes more active it should increase in speed on a regular basis ...

Providing your hosting provider has the server optimized correctly, things should hum along nicely ...

Re: Slow Performance High Parse time

I got a respectable time of

Parse Time: 0.258 - Number of Queries: 111 - Query Time: 0.06039156413269

Edit: Ajeh must have got it in the cache

Re: Slow Performance High Parse time

That is exactly what the affect has of my going in, first, to hit it and then you coming along and riding in on my caching the page for you ...

Re: Slow Performance High Parse time

Thanks for taking a look. I'm using 1and1 and I dunno if thats optimal. Any hosting companies you guys recommend for zen-cart that is faster? 1and1 is not even running PHP5 believe it or not

Have you reviewed the "Certified Hosts" link in the top nav bar on this page?
