Free Gifts-Dangling Carrot support

I think reading through everyone elses issues with this mod, you should only install this if absolutely sure, and experienced enough to deal with any issues, until a more reliable update has been submitted.

This mod is mostly working for me. The only issue I'm having is that when I put in an amount ($7) for the threshhold and then click on add, it's showing under 'Free Gift' as 0. Then on my checkout page it says "By spending over $0.00 you have qualified for the following gift!" So it's almost working, just not allowing me to set the threshhold. What can I do to fix this?

i have a problem with this mod, i have installed this mod and it show in the admin panel. i have set the threshold for 25. but at the checkout the free gif doesnt add to the cart??

It is because you are using the $ symbol. Remove it and it will work fine..

By the way i got my problem sorted out. and im in a new problem.

When the user is qualifiled for a free gift and when the customer adds it to the cart, the price of the free product is not deducted.

If i set the item out of stock and add a product i get the below error and it will not be added to the cart..please help me.

We are sorry but this product has been removed from our inventory at this time.
This item has been removed from your shopping cart.

I am waiting to install this on a site based on the many issues it seems to be having. Do we have any word, if and when an update will be made to this??

I had to remove dangling carrot because I could not get it operating effectively however I now have a related problem where the shopping cart cannot be viewed. Message when viewing the shopping cart is:

1146 Table 'kee48203_zencart.TABLE_CARROT' doesn't exist
in:
[SELECT fg.*, p.products_id, p.products_model, p.products_price, p.products_image, p.products_status, pd.products_name FROM (TABLE_CARROT fg, products p) LEFT JOIN products_description pd ON (pd.products_id=fg.products_id) WHERE pd.language_id = '1' AND p.products_id = fg.products_id ORDER BY fg.threshold ASC]

Any ideas on what I need to do to correct this problem ??

I think this module is working except for the issue of the gifts remaining in the cart if the customer logs off without completing the purchase.

The solution to this, it seems to me, is to remove gifts from carts which have an expired session ID.

This code, from gift_add.php, might allow the gift to be deleted:

Except instead of products_id it should be session id.

I'm just thinking out loud here, so if anyone can tell me if I'm on the right track, please let me know.

I am using Zen Version 1.3.8V Everything is working in Admin area but When I add an product when they purchase $100.00 or more. When add an item for $250.00 to the cart and when I check out the product it didn't add the free prodcut to the shopping cart at all what am I doing wrong?

I have it working but when I insert 100 or up 250 for the free gift but when they purchase 90.00 it pops up the free gift in the shopping cart I don't want that. I want they have to purchase $100 or more to get the free gift. How can I fix that?

I think I have the solution to delete the gifts when a session ends:

includes/functions/sessions.php

Line 162 in function zen_session_recreate()

replace:

global $http_domain, $https_domain, $current_domain;

with:

global $http_domain, $https_domain, $current_domain, $db;
$db->Execute("DELETE from " . TABLE_CUSTOMERS_BASKET . " WHERE products_id = 96 OR products_id = 97 OR products_id = 98");

Replace 96, 97, 98 with your actual product ids for your free gifts.

This removes the gifts when the customer times out, or when the customer logs off. If the gifts are not deleted, it's possible to select two free gifts when a visitors cart is merged with a customers cart.

I installed the free gift add on but I cannot seem to add any items. I gone to the products page and made some fake products but I cannot choose anything under the Free Gift menu. I reinstalled it with the same results.

The only other add on I have that deal with price is the sitewide markup and the MSRP.

Looks like that code is already gone

I installed this mod on my site, and it seems to work fine, but it erased some other mods I had installed. I installed a mod that would include the product image and a check out button in the shopping cart sidebox, and that is no longer there. I also had each of the product pages listed by add date first and the category pages no longer do this.

I am wondering if there is a way to give me the code from this mod that I need to add to certain files in the other mod files to make these mods work together? I am pretty sure I know which ones they are.

I am also having a problem with deleting the free gift. When I delete it, it deletes the entire product!

And I noticed that it deletes it from the store so that it shows in the store, but when you click on it the product is not there. Then in the admin, it won't let you delete the product because it says that it is not there.

OK, after working on this for several hours, I have been able to get it to work, but I am still having the ghost product issue and it deleting my products information, and locking me out of being able to delete it from admin.

I also wanted to move the text of the special gift to the left of the image and vertical align it middle. Either that or just delete the image all together and just leave the text. Is there a way to do this?

My client have Dual Pricing module and it seems it will conflict with this mod in 'price section' at product info page, if anyone can let me know how to make both works without conflict would be great.

Thank you for this mod!! It's just lovely.

Except for one thing: my products and shopping cart take much, much longer to load than before. I had to run the SQL a few times to get it to insert properly. My tables do have the zen prefix but I got errors when I ran it with the prefix so I had to do it without. This is a new site that's being hosted on GoDaddy. I know, I know, they're horrible for zen but that's where my client's acct is so I don't have an option.

Anyway, is there a way for me to troubleshoot this lag? I'd really like to use this on a live site but if it kills the product display I can't.
