HELP!! site looks different in IE and FF - Comstock

Hello fellow zenners, I am working with comstock template, and having some problems. Great template by the way. the site is here https://www.fashionfavourites.com. and you can see the different things in IE then FFox

I want the site to look as it looks in FF with the addition of the back ground color only (light blue) as it does in IE.

  1. you can see that in IE (contact us | my account | view cart) links are too high up and are behind the free shipping logo. :yuck: Could someone please guide me as to how i can bring it down..like in Ffox (in line with home|login... on left side)

  2. Why is there a color in IE in the optional categories tabs. and none in FF. :unsure: very weird

  3. I want that space decreased (the optional cat tabs) its too wide... the way it looks in FF is sufficient.

Thank you to anyone who has any suggestion as I am totally confused and tired of continuously changing the CSS with no success.

I am giving up on this one, and just anticipate your replies.

smoke133:

You can try to using the "Internet Explorer Stylesheet Over-rides" module to make the changes in IE. http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&products_id=493. Then change the "#navAccount ul" in the css.

An ie-stylesheet.css is already included with the comstock template.

Change the height in the following declaration in stylesheet.css
(the height should match the combined height of both of your logos) probably about 135px
#logoWrapper {
margin-top: 15px;
margin-left: 100px;
padding: 0;
width: 907px;
height:135px;
/
background: url(../images/header_bg.jpg) no-repeat; */
position: relative;
}

2. Why is there a color in IE in the optional categories tabs. and none in FF. :unsure: very weird

change the background-color

#navCatTabsWrapper {
margin: 0;
background-color: #ffffff;
font-weight: bold;
color: #fff;
height: 1%;
width: 100%;
}

*3. I want that space decreased (the optional cat tabs) its too wide... the way it looks in FF is sufficient.
*

change the height to 24px and add a line-height:
#navCatTabsWrapper {
margin: 0;
background-color: #E5EDF5;
font-weight: bold;
color: #fff;
height: 24px;
line-height: normal;
width: 100%;
}

Re: HELP!! site looks different in IE and FF - Comstock

Thank you clyejones, I took your suggestions along with several trial and error attempts. I manged to get closer to the look I am after, still experience differences.

BTW: Was I suppose to make the changes your recommended in the regular stylesheet.css file (not the iestylesheet.css in directory). You mention iestylesheet but no action on it.

my problems are:
I cant get (my account| contact us | view cart) button any lower. I want them in the yellowish bar aligned with (home|login) on the left side. I moved them down in the stylesheet but it just dissappears behind that bar...no clue what to do:frusty:

The blue bar the catTabes(men women) is too wide in IE. What element do I need to change so they are of equal width (both ie and ffox):lamo:

I eagerly anticipate and suggestions and thank you in advance.

This is correct - only make changes in the regular stylesheet.css

my problems are:
I cant get (my account| contact us | view cart) button any lower. I want them in the yellowish bar aligned with (home|login) on the left side. I moved them down in the stylesheet but it just dissappears behind that bar...no clue what to do:frusty:

You'll have to move things around in includes/templates/comstock/common/tpl_header.php

The blue bar the catTabes(men women) is too wide in IE. What element do I need to change so they are of equal width (both ie and ffox):lamo:

delete the highlighted portions in these declarations (in stylesheet.css

#navCatTabsWrapper {
margin: 0;
background-color: #E5EDF5;
font-weight: bold;
color: #fff;
height: 24px%;
line-height: normal;
width: 100%;
}
#navCatTabs ul {
margin-top: 10px;
margin-right: 0;
margin-bottom: 0;
margin-left: 0;
padding: 0.5em 0em;
list-style-type: none;
text-align: center;
line-height: 1.5em;
}

Re: HELP!! site looks different in IE and FF - Comstock

Thank you for the hasty reply clydejones. I did what you recommended, improved a lot. However I still experience the issue with the navigation buttons. They are still behind the yellow bar in IE..:frusty:

After executing your recommendation the (Men Women--navTABS in blue bar) doesn't seem centered anymore in Ffox. It says centered in the stylesheet and looks centered in IE, just not in Ffox.

I continue trying to modify different things and see how the site looks, but I don't want to really mess things up...:ohmy: So i'll just wait and take your suggestions.

This may help with the header.

Just unzip the file and upload the file to (tpl_header.php):

includes/templates/comstock/common/

Re: HELP!! site looks different in IE and FF - Comstock

Clydejones, you are the man. Thank you so very much. :clap:. My hat is off to you sir. I better stop before you get too cocky on me.

So I guess my tpl_header was out of wack, and the problem had nothing to do with the stylesheet. Either way problem fixed thanks to you. I am sure i'll have more problems as I build more and more of the site

Any idea on how i can get to footer to be the same length as the centermainWrapper..?

Thanks again clyde, and what a template..

Not without creating a new image for it.

Re: HELP!! site looks different in IE and FF - Comstock

I figured it wont be easy. We'll worry about it when we eventually get the that part of the website.

I added some categories and things again look different in IE and Ffox. Is it possible to get IE to look more like what Ffox currently looks and where to change.

Also wondering if I can fit more categories in the top line (maybe just casual shoes and training shoes--added to the top line)

so it looks:

   [MEN|WOMEN|--------TRAINING SHOES]

[SKATEBOARDING SHOES|................................]

And one final thing:
How can I get [home|login] to be in the far left and [contact us-----view cart] to be in the far right of the blue bar(navmainwrapper). Similar to yoursite http://mysticmountainnaturals.com/

Problem site: fashionfavourites.com

Any attempts only made the header fall apart. If you see my stylesheet you'll see how I got them to that area.

And I am not sure what happened but view cart used to be RED:frusty:

Thank you Clydejone for all the help.

Apparently, you've added a lot of unnecessary bits and pieces to the stylesheet.css and after a quick glance, I'm not sure what's what.

The original template had been tested in FF, IE7, Opera and Safari so that it appeared the same in those browsers.

If you are talking about IE6 - I don't have IE6 so I can't offer any advice for that browser.

Re: HELP!! site looks different in IE and FF - Comstock

I am running 7.0.6001.1800 Internet Explorer 7 for Windows Server 2008 and for Windows Vista SP1.

The difference still exist::dontgetit I can deal with the differences for now but what about this issue:

How can I get [home|login] to be in the far left and [contact us-----view cart] to be in the far right of the light blue bar(navmainwrapper). Similar to http://mysticmountainnaturals.com/

even with the original template the above two things were never aligned.

The extra code I added to the style sheet was for logo2(free shipping image), suggestion from the forum, if i want to control it's position.

The rest i a made modifications to the values(ie padding, margin, width, height....etc)

True: the contact us, account and view cart were aligned to the far left but had their own section which is above the other navigation section. (this was by design)

I thought that I had provided a solution that had fixed your heading issue.

The rest i a made modifications to the values(ie padding, margin, width, height....etc)

and I can't make heads or tails out of what you changed from the original.

Re: HELP!! site looks different in IE and FF - Comstock

Ok I managed to get both IE and Ffox to be the same, I am quiet happy with the look.:clap: and you will find that my stylesheet is much easier to read.

I had to bring back the original stylesheet, then make modifications now that I am a bit more knowledgeable about the css (basically slept next to my pc, if at all and now seeing multiples)

One thing I noticed: Once you click on a category, the rightside boxes disappear. They are there on the front page, but any subsequent links the main area expands and the sideboxes are gone.

I am not sure where to look, can someone help!:frusty:

You're also trying to fit an image that is 1137px wide into a space that is only 907px wide.

From the description of the template in the downloads section and the readme file included with the template.

This template modifies tpl_main_page.php, tpl_header.php and tpl_footer.php to achieve its look. It is designed to "DROP" the right colomn on category/product listing pages.
