I need to create a custom payment module

I'm in the process of creating a large company with some friends. One owns his own payment processing company, which I wanted to integrate into Zencart so that all our customers will be going through OUR payment processor.

What info do I need from my friend about his processing business so that I can have a custom module created to work with my Zencart?

Have his people review their API to one of the several available for Zen Cart

Forgive the ignorance here...API? You can see why I'm needing help with this. I haven't taken on something like this before.

API = application programming interface

If your friend's portal does this as a business, his people will know what is required
