Tax gives me wrong prices. HELP

Hello everybody:

In the admin , when i'm setting a product description, i put the product tax as 16%.
Then i put the product value (example: 1000€), and automaticaly it gives me the net price, that is 862.069€.

The problem is: the 16% of 1000 is 840 and not the price that is showing (862.069).
I have now a lot of problems with my customers complaining, thinking i'm trying to rip them off.

SOMEBODY HELP ME.

Re: Tax gives me wrong prices. HELP

Zencart is making the correct calculation.

If your TOTAL price (including tax) is EUR 1000, then the NETT PRICE is EUR 862.069

Why is this?

862.069 + (TAX at 16%) = 1000.00004 (rounded = 1000.0000). Correct.

What you are doing is taking 1000 and finding 16% of 1000, THEN you are subtracting that.

Your formula is ((TOTAL PRICE) minus (TOTAL PRICE multiplied by 0.16)) NOT Correct.

Zencart applies the correct formula (TOTAL PRICE divided by 1.16).

Your NETT prices calculated by ZC are perfectly correct.
