user blocked access from zen store

We have a user that has historically had no issues accessing the site and store. This user recently became a vendor (selling through our store) and she tried accessing the store through her ftp application (she is not extremely computer literate). After several failed attempts, she now gets this message when she tried to log in to zen via her browser: aol - this program can not display the web page IE - we cannot find the webpage you are looking for Firefox - the server at https://www.ndisb.com is taking too long to respond could her ftp access attempts somehow have triggered an access block to the store? Thanks

Re: user blocked access from zen store

Not impossible...... But highly unlikely. If she can access the catalog then thats definatly not the problem.

She should attempt to resend her admin password and then login with it.

Additionally, if she is running WIN XP the last update or 2 have caused some substantial caching issues for logins and such... Try clearing cache and cookies & reboot.

Re: user blocked access from zen store

It sounds like a problem with her Internet Connection, even if she can access other sites fine.

If she has Broadband (adsl) then get her to unplug her Router from the mains power supply, shut down the PC and reboot, and then reconnect the modem to the power supply.

You'll be amazed how many times that works!

She could also, before shutting down and restarting her PC, do this:

Go to Start --> Run, and type in: /ipconfig flushdns and then click OK. Then shut down the PC and reboot.

Re: user blocked access from zen store

Thanks for the quick response. The formatting of my original post lost carriage returns so some of it may not have made sense.

She cannot access the store at all. She can access www.ndisb.com, our main page. But when she tries to log in to the store at https://www.ndisb.com/store, she gets the above referenced messages on her browser.

So to answer your initial sentence - no she can not access the catalog.

Re: user blocked access from zen store

I would have to agree it is either her connection or a shot in the dark check for an .htaccess in your store folder with a line "Deny from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" and see if she has by some means been blocked.

AOL is funky stuff... even when you try to use an alternative browser.

Re: user blocked access from zen store

This customer/vendor is still not able to access the store. It is only when she attempts to log in.

Does anyone else have any ideas? It is only our store that she has a problem with. I believe the issue started when she was given ftp access to upload product information to the store.

We have tried all of the above suggestions and we have contacted the site host to check on a block there with no success.

My feeling is that it is likely some kind of security issue, but I don't really know.

Any help is appreciated.

Re: user blocked access from zen store

Couple of things

From the same PC go here http://www.eatmybrowser.com/ and in the center section under the ads type in your store's domain address... This is a proxy browser, the resulting site will be yours with ads and such. If she CANNOT access it this way, then the problem lies with her PC.

If she accesses the site on the proxy IP, then download FireFox, install it and try... she likely disallowed the site with a security pop up or similar in her browser.

Re: user blocked access from zen store

Melanie,

She can get to the store. That is not the problem. It is when she tries to log in that she gets the above messages. That is why I thought it may be some zencart security issue. Are you saying that using this method, she should be able to log in? Just wanted to clarify.

Thanks

Re: user blocked access from zen store

Is there anyone else that can help with this issue? We have been unable to resolve her ability to log in to the store for two months. Please keep in mind that she was able to log in to zencart as a customer prior to making several failed attempts to log in via ftp to upload digital products in the store. I do not know the details of the failed attempts (bad password, username, etc). Also, we tried registering her as a new user with the same result.

Re: user blocked access from zen store

Download FireFox and try... she likely blocked the access from her browser.

Also, can YOU at your location login with her credentials?

Re: user blocked access from zen store

Melanie, she has tried the AOL browser, Internet Explorer and Firefox, all without success (see original post). I should have stated earlier though that she can log in from a computer other than her own (ie: work computer). AOL states that they are not the issue, and our host states that we are not the issue.

Re: user blocked access from zen store

Then she did in fact block the site herself... She needs a PC tech, its not your website.

Melanie, thanks for the assistance. I just wanted to do everything that I could to ensure that the issue was not on our end.

Re: user blocked access from zen store

Melanie, one other thing I just learned. She and her husband have different computers at home, both on a wireless network. Neither computer can log in. That leads me to believe that it actually is AOL and not her computer. What do you think?

Re: user blocked access from zen store

If the PCs are networked they can still be blocking it in the router or firewall.... Either way, they are gone need a tech to crack this one. You see, FireFox should not be destined to the same hangups for this sort of thing like AOl or even IE... The fact that FF won't login either leads to the PC/Network.

Re: user blocked access from zen store

rename the admin htaccess file and see if she can get in,
If that dosnt work then they may need to actually reset their router,
login to the router and reset renew the connection

I had something like this happen to one of our customers.
To fix the customer had to download and run ccleaner because cleaning the cache of there browser under windows leaves 7 days of junk.
Now to do a complete clean: Using ccleaner under Options -> Advanced you have to uncheck *Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours. *
This will remove all cached info right to the time ccleaner is run.

Note: Read and run at your own risk. (This utility is not a toy)

Re: user blocked access from zen store

If they are using AOL (nicknamed A O Hell for good reason) as their ISP then it won't matter which Browser they use - they may still not be able to login. AOL operates differently to other ISPs and cache everything on their servers before delivery to the Browser - and they cache everything across a network of servers each with different ip addresses. So the images and page content for just one page could be cached across 20 different ip addresses. This makes it almost impossible for AOL to keep a session active.

But one other thing that can be tried, assuming that AOL is NOT the problem and that they use a PC and not a Mac - go to Start --> Run --> and type into the window that appears: /ipconfig flushdns and then click OK. This will flush the dns cache on your PC.

You should do this after deleting all Temporary Internet Files and all Offline Content from IE, and under Advanced Settings set your browser to always show you the latest version of any page you visit. Then use the Run command, and then shut down and restart your PC.
