Admin Orders / Phone Orders

Hi all , I am sure i am not alone , but when a customer calls in to our warehouse , or phones up , we usually have to barter on price so they are getting the best deal.

All fine and good , but we want to be able to track and create these orders on our website, We can do this fine using a couple of Mods to create customers and orders as if we were them. But when the price changes from the web price or the shipping cost is different , at the moment we have no way of easily doing this .

Does anyone have and suggestions on how we could use Zen in this way ?

Off the top of my head I'd suggest:

Create a customer specific product with the revised pricing - if you don't need to track shipping separately the product total would be the TOTAL + SHIPPING that the customer pays and the product can then be set up as free shipping!

Thanks , that is indeed one option and we will end up doing that if nothing else is found.

I guess it would be nice to use the site like a cash register , and set up some admin only specifics , especially on the shipping. It should be fairly easy to do , set some variable ( if isadmin is true ) then show an free text box that we just type a figure into.

Maybe I am trying to push zen-cart too far !

Would Group Discounts help you achieve this in any way?

I took a quick look at group discount , i may try to hack at that one as it is set up for a fixed level of percentage discount , but if i could get that to prompt for a total discount , which is again free number that you type in , that may work .

all depends how much time i have to hack around in php !

Which mods?! I've been playing around for a long time trying to figure out how I can take a phone order through the site and not ask the customer for his billing address and such, just the card number, expiration and a contact phone number or email. (My sales average $70 and till now I've taken phone orders the old fashioned way and charged them with a Virtual Terminal which doesn't demand all billing info.)
