Easy Zone Rate shipping for states

This is a module that is basically a modified version of the stock zone shipping module that is a simple way to setup shipping rates to various states and provinces around the world.

I thought about integrating states in the actual zone shipping module, and possibly changing the tokenization rules that currently exist (i.e. instead of US, CA for a zone rule... it would be something like US:(IL WI AL), CA:(ON) or something similar).

Anyhow, if anyone is looking for something that is really straightforward to use for state zone shipping give this a shot and let me know if you have any feedback or bugs to report.

Yea. I realized this a while back. It is because zen carts module loader uses underscores as some kind of delimiting character. As soon as you drop the underscore out of the module filename it works fine. Attached is a version that should work fine.

I tried it and I am getting the error, in the shipping modules page:

I can't recreate the error you're having. Its not finding the file is whats going on... so perhaps check the statezones.php in languages/english/modules/shipping is present. Let me know if you have success figuring it out, and if you want help i'd be willing to have a look at the errors you're having.

Got it now, it was my mistake! Do you know if their is anyway I can change the way this module appears to the customer? For example,Instead of saying "state zone rates" I want it to say "regular 5-7 day shipping.

Search for "state zone rates" using the admin>tools>developers tool kit and you will probably find it in one of the language files that came with the mod. Make the change to what you want it to say.

Thank you, that worked! I also would like to change the description that the customer sees for the ups mod. For example "Next day air" I would like to switch to "expedited". I tried switching it the same way as the title description but it does not work.

Does anyone know of a way to disable this module completely if a customer orders from out of the USA? because whats been happening is that if they leave the state field blank it defaults to the lowest shipping price. Please help!http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

One of our :censored: shopping carts just cannot be upgraded.
It's stuck at 1.2.1. Do you know if this module will work on it?

Well, I backed up my cart and exported my database, just in case, and downloaded and installed this mod. It seemed to install correctly. It even accepted my edit for 4 zones instead of 3. When I attempted to edit it, the first thing I tried was to add AK,HI,PR,VI to the Skip states box. When I saved it and returned to it, that box was empty.

Any idea what the problem is?

Is it because my cart is such an old version?

I am not a programmer.

However I would like to try to add "dropshipper state" to the datbase for each product.

Use this state code to select a dropshipper zone, populated by state codes similar to the zones for states.

Then based on that dropshipper zone, in the data base , a shipping zone populated by state/cost could be applied for shipping cost by item in cart.

any guidance where to start this?
