how do I get shipping charges based on total order?

Hey everyone

My client wants to have a flat rate shipping charge based on how much the order is (i.e. for all orders below $99 there's a shipping charge $9, etc.)

How do I do that?

One way is to use the table rate module and create your table according to your rules

Use the "Table Rate" shipping module, and select "price" as the qualifier to base shipping on.

Thanks.

One more question. Is there a way to set up different tables? For example, my client wants a certain shipping/price structure for domestic shipping, and a different one for international. Is there a way to do that?

You can look for the multi table multi rate module or just clone the table rate files and rename(what is presented to the viewer) as Domestic and International
Search for other posts on cloning as there are many

Re: how do I get shipping charges based on total order?

When I set my shipping rates using the Table Rate module, the formulas don't seem to be working. I want to offer free shipping for all orders > $50.00 and a flat rate of $4.50 for orders $50.00. For one the formula I am using doesn't work (z50:4.50,10000:0.00,100000:0.00), and also upon checkout all of these other options keep showing up such as:

  • FedEx Ground ($1.00)
  • FexEx Home Delivery ($1.00)
  • Etc.So my questions are:
  1. How come the formula doesn't seem to be working? Any orders > $50.00 don't offer the free shipping.
  2. How do I get rid of all the other options (above). I only want it to show $4.50 for orders < $50.00 and free shipping for orders > $50.00.The website is www.desertskyink.com. Also, I am using Google checkout for this website so maybe the shipping settings aren't transferring appropriately.

I do have the Table Method=price. Also, where do I turn off FedEx, USPS, UPS, etc.? The only module I have enabled is the Table module.

handkem,

A link to your site

As if you do not have Fedex installed and enabled it should not be displayed

Re: how do I get shipping charges based on total order?

I found that some of the issue was that within there Google checkout module there were various shipping options, but I have since disabled those. The problem I am having now is getting products > $50.00 to show free shipping. I am currently using the Table Rate module with the following settings - 50:4.50,10000:0 - but orders > $50.00 still show the $4.50 shipping charge. Any ideas?

Re: how do I get shipping charges based on total order?

It appears that just the order is transmitted to Google and that is as far as I could get without creating an account with Google.
Do they have shipping charge settings?

Re: how do I get shipping charges based on total order?

They do have shipping charge settings, but it doesn't allow me to offer free shipping for orders > $50.00 so I disable them.....and the Zen cart shipping module doesn't seem to allow it either. I am using the Table rate shipping module, and $4.50 shipping does show up at checkout, however, anything > $50.00 should show $0 shipping charge, but it doesn't seem to be working as it should.

Re: how do I get shipping charges based on total order?

Enable the money order so one can tell what is being calculated without messing with Google.
Get it correct for money order and then any differences are settings on the Google side of things

Re: how do I get shipping charges based on total order?

I will try that. But, all of the shipping options within Google checkout are disabled, so I would think that the Zen-Cart shipping modules would work. They do show $4.50 for shipping when I use the table rate method, but that's it, they will not show free shipping for orders > $50.00....since there really is no support for Google checkout (and that's the only method I am using), it looks like I'm out of luck

Re: how do I get shipping charges based on total order?

I figured this out...my bad...I originally was offering free shipping for all of my products, so I had FREE SHIPPING marked for each individual product, so I now have to change those....thx for your responses
