Page Number and Phone Number Questions

I have 2 question:
First: Can I display the product pages on the product listing page as a drop down list not the standard way 1, 2, 3, 4, 5???
Second: I removed the Phone number from the create an account page, Can I create a new field to where a customer can insert their phone number if they want to Meaning Make it Optional????

on the phone number, go to configuration >> minimum values and change the value to 0.

Then you will need to edit the file to remove the * next to telephone number.

Lastly, you will need to figure out how you will contact a customer if there is something wrong with their order. In other words, I would not do it.

Choice is yours.

Nowadays alot of people don't like to give up their phone number online. Or they use fake number so I don't think you have to make the customer give you information that they might not think its needed. You can always contact them via email. I Want to include the phone number in the customer detail field not in a new field like the way the phone number is displayed now.

So Basically I want to create a new field in the product detail called phone number and leave it optional.

Anyone knows how to do either one????
