How do i remove the side catagories?

I ve been looking havent seen anything on turning off thoes side catagories? how do i do that? I want to replace them with images. basically i have other areas of my site that dont belong as a product. like fourms videos ect. having a side navagation bar thats incomplete seems to confuse our visitors.

hi, i am not a computer savy but i just did that trying to move my categories, lol.

go to tools, click on layout boxes controller, then turn off sideboxes/categories.php.
