Donation to specific category.

I am creating a website for a church that burn down a couple of years ago on Christmas Day. I want to setup a donation cart for them.

Is it possible to create a cart to do donations to specific categories. I would like for someone to be able to donate any amount, and be able to select a category to donate it to, using paypal.

You could create as products your "categories" and alter the "buy" text to read "donate". Make each of these products $1 and add textual explanation to add as many as they wish to donate i.e.

1 = $1
50 = $50
etc

That's a clever way to do it. I hadn't thought of that. So there is no way for them to just enter the dollar amount they want. I am just thinking, if they wanted to add $100 or even $500 dollars, that would be a hell of a drop down for quantity.

Not without recoding the cart functions to keep this automatic...
If you want to manually process these (credit cards) and have a CC terminal you could make it a text box - - but again this becomes a manual operation

Does it really make sense to deploy a Zen Cart just to collect donations? Why not just put a paypal button on a website?
