Change Product Weight to Product Size

Can somebody tell me if it is possible to change define('TEXT_PRODUCT_WEIGHT_UNIT','lbs'); to something like define('TEXT_PRODUCT_SIZE_UNIT','ltrs');

Hi Tina thanks for the response on my question. If product weight affects shipping options would it be possible to set up a seperate column for product size when products are displayed instead?
