Attribute pricing always displays as £X PLUS £Y

I'd like my prices to be as follows:

'Bare' product £100
Product De Luxe £120
Product Special £150

but in the attributes drop down I always get:

'Bare' product £100
Product De Luxe + £20
Product Special + £50

In the manual it describes this (on P168) as being controlled by the 'Product Priced By Attributes' option in each product, but regardless of whether I set that to Yes or No, it always appears as '+ £20' for the options. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong here?
Cheers!

The instructions say Insert Disk 3, but only two will fit...

Re: Attribute pricing always displays as £X PLUS £Y

Try setting your product price to $0.00 and enable the Price By Attributes option.

Assuming you have an attribute Option Type as:

'Product Configuration'

Then set 3 x attribute Option Values and their respective prices as follows:

'Bare' = £100
'De Luxe' = £120
'Special' = £150

You might also want to set one of the attributes (e.g. 'Bare') with the "Default Attribute to be Mark Selected" as "Yes".

Well yes, that would work, but I'd really rather not go back to all my products and reprice them at zero! As I said, Page 168 in the reference manual describes that this process should change depending on which radio box you mark, but it displays exactly the same regardless! Has there been a version update since you wrote the book, or is something else changed?

Re: Attribute pricing always displays as £X PLUS £Y

Thanks for the update.

Writing on the book started way back when Zen Cart was in version 1.2.x so I must have missed something along the way.

It's purely my own mistake and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience it has caused you.

I've since updated the Errata on the book's site regarding the error on pg 168.

Hey, no problem! I was only asking in case it was something **I **had done wrong :blush:

Following through with this scenario, there is one slight issue - more aesthetic than anything else, but it could potentially lead to customer confusion.
The price for the 'bare' unit is now £100 (£0 base price + £100 for the 'bare' option) but it displays in the dropdown as ```
(+ £100)

Re: Attribute pricing always displays as £X PLUS £Y

Just remove it in the attributes controller (where you see the little window with + in it, just delete the +) ... leave that input field empty.

Thanks fairestcape, that works fine. Though with ten attributes per product, and a couple of hundred products, thats a fair few mouse clicks! Dont suppose there is an SQL command to 'suppress' **all **instances of '+' within attributes boxes?

Re: Attribute pricing always displays as £X PLUS £Y

To suppress all instances of the '+' or '-' price prefix in your attributes.

Backup your database before performing any changes.

Using your phpMyAdmin interface, use either of the following SQL commands

 • If your database table has no table prefix, do this:
UPDATE products_attributes SET price_prefix='';
 • If your database table has a table prefix (e.g. zen_), then do this:
UPDATE zen_products_attributes SET price_prefix='';
```Note: If you only want to suppress a '+' price prefix and not a '-' price prefix, or vice versa; you will need to modify the above SQL with a WHERE clause.
Re: Attribute pricing always displays as £X PLUS £Y
To simplify things, you can run the following SQL command directly from your Admin's Tools > Install SQL Patches window if you have already backed up your database. That will automatically take care of the table prefixes.
UPDATE products_attributes set price_prefix='';
