Attribute Feature pricing question (not show "+ $X.XX")

This question concerns how to use the attribute feature without having it show the "+dollar amount" in parenthesis on the product page. I want the system to calculate the correct price but NOT show on the **website product page **the (+ dollar amount).

Here is the background…

I think it is confusing for the customer to have to mentally calculate the price. What I would like to do is to set up the option value to mention the price. For example, the option value might look like this:

Apple - $1.00
Apple with skin - $1.50
Apple with skin and seeds - $2.00

Doing the above will allow the customer to see 'at a glance' the actual price for each option. I think this is better than trying to calculate it in your head. However, if the system adds the (+dollar amount) it becomes confusing. Keep in mind that the reason I want to show the price is because I don't want the customer to have to mentally calculate the price.

Here is what it looks like when the system adds the (+dollar amount):

Apple - $1.00
Apple with skin - $1.50 (+$0.50)
Apple with skin and seeds - $2.00 (+$1.00)

I think this is too confusing (am I paying $1.50 + and additional $0.50?).

My question is…

Does anyone know how to go into the code and make the system not show the "+dollar amount".

Thanks for anything you can share.

Re: Attribute Feature pricing question (not show "+ $X.XX")

I second that request! Its exactly what I'm trying to figure out how to do with attributes.

I did just set the product's price to $0.00 and then gave each attribute a one-time price accordingly. BUT, that shows that odd starred message (one time fees may apply) with the product information. AND, it allows limits the quantity the customer can purchase to 1. Because of both of these issues, this method isn't a viable option for me.

Sooo....any ideas? Please?

Re: Attribute Feature pricing question (not show "+ $X.XX")

You could probably use the
Product is Priced by Attribute YES

and then don't add the prefix on the attribute and add the full amount on the attribute and voila ... no +/- and no partial price but the full price of the attribute is displayed ...

Re: Attribute Feature pricing question (not show "+ $X.XX")

I'm using the dynamic price updater. So I'm looking to lose the

(+£0.50) completely.

Product name (+£0.50) (into just) Product name.

Does anyone know how to do this?

I know that the attributes are added through tpl_modules_attributes.php using an array called $options_menu[$i]. But I can't see where this has been taken from so I could maybe make changes there.

Thanks

Jason

Linda, you're an absolute gem.

Just to confirm, Linda's approach works perfectly.
You can see it in action on the following page:

http://www.tradersupplies.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=82_100&products_id=272

Sorry Jason, I don't use the dynamic price updater so can't be of much help there.

Re: Attribute Feature pricing question (not show "+ $X.XX")

Hi there, I have this same settings on my store, and I'm just testing a product with attributes and for some weird reason the Sub-Total is messed up.

http://www.manuelavalenti.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=342
two options on this item. If I select one for example the first one that costs $179.99 and I add it to cart the subtotal is doubled.

I can't figure out why this is happening.

Any help is appreciated.

Re: Attribute Feature pricing question (not show "+ $X.XX")

I was able to fix the problem (or so I think) of the double sub total by deleting the item price (don't think this is the actual solution), but now the price that's suppose to appear next to "Starting at:" is just plain not there.

I saw Dunks page and it displays as it should, I just can't make it work in my store.

Re: Attribute Feature pricing question (not show "+ $X.XX")

Hi,

Make sure that on the admin product page the 'Product Priced by Attributes:' radio button is set to YES (this is the bit I think you may have missed as I did the same!), and that the Products Price on this page is set to 0.

Then apply all pricing to the product via the Attributes Controller.

Hope this helps

Re: Attribute Feature pricing question (not show "+ $X.XX")

Thank you Dunk,
I have it exactly like that,
Product Priced by Attributes: Yes
Product Price: 0

the problem was on the attributes controller I had selected no for all the attributes flags, that's what created the problem.

Thank you for your help!
