Sales Tax showing, but not calculating. Please HELP!

I'm running 1.3.8, and my orders are showing the sales tax, but not adding the sales tax to the order total. The store is in Massachusetts, where the sales tax is 5%. Here are my settings:

Admin -> Configuration ->My Store:
Tax Decimal Places: 5.0%
Display Prices with Tax: true
Display Prices with Tax in Admin: true
Basis of Product Tax: Billing
Basis of Shipping Tax: Shipping
Sales Tax Display Status: 1 (on)

Admin -> Locations/Taxes -> Tax Rates
Tax Class Title: Taxable Goods
Zone: Massachusetts
Rate: 5.0000%
Description: Mass 5% Sales Tax
Priority: 0

I have also attached a small shot of what the order total look like.

I've been working on this for at least 4 hours and am truly at my wits end. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated and prevent further hair loss.

What version are you running? Did you have a look at the settings I posted? Do you have the same settings that I have?

I would like to get this cleared up, and if we can get your problem cleared up at the same time, that's even better!

Re: Sales Tax showing, but not calculating. Please HELP!

here are my settings

Admin -> Configuration ->My Store:
Tax Decimal Places: 7.0%
Display Prices with Tax: false
Display Prices with Tax in Admin: true
Basis of Product Tax: shipping
Basis of Shipping Tax: Shipping
Sales Tax Display Status: 1 (on)

Admin -> Locations/Taxes -> Tax Rates
Tax Class Title: Taxable Goods
Zone: Indiana
Rate: 7.0000%
Description: Sales Tax
Priority: 0

They're similar. seems to me that both of our issues come from the same script page (or a similar page) they are just scripted opposite, if you know what i mean.

Hey leavellwd,

I think I may have just had a moment of clarity. :ohmy:

In you Admin -> My Store settings, it says you have the "Display Prices with Tax" set to false. Have you tried setting this to true?

Give it a shot and let me know how it goes.

Re: Sales Tax showing, but not calculating. Please HELP!

I see on another thread that chris has solved the problem. Congrats! :clap:

Unfortunately, I am still having my problem. I have reloaded all files in Includes -> Modules -> Order Total. I have also reloaded Includes -> Functions -> functions_taxes.php. I have gone through more threads and gone through several configurations to no avail.

As you can see by the attachment, the tax line is showing on the order total, however the tax has not been added to the total. The total shown is $18.03, but if you add shipping, sub-total and tax, the total amount should be $18.66.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have run out of ideas. Could someone please point me in the right direction? :frusty:

Re: Sales Tax showing, but not calculating. Please HELP!

After pulling a lot of my hair out, I have finally found part of my problem. I changed the following setting:

Admin -> Configuration ->My Store:
Tax Decimal Places: 5.0%

to:

Admin -> Configuration ->My Store:
Tax Decimal Places: 2

Now I am showing a tax, but it is not calculated properly. So I guess I'll be moving on to the next problem. As always, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and would likely prevent further hair loss. :smile:

Re: Sales Tax showing, but not calculating. Please HELP!

:clap: Yippee! I finally got it down! I changed one more setting:

Admin -> Configuration -> My Store
Display Prices with Tax -> False

and Voila, it works as it should!

I hope this information helps someone else, and perhaps prevents some frustration. :D

Try priority 1 ...

I am not sure what you mean by:

My Florida sales tax is not calculating just the **florida tax **which is incorrect and shouldn't even be there.

If you have definitions for tax that you do not need, then you should not have them ...
