Confustion about paypal standard/ipn

If someone could clarify this for me I would be eternally grateful. I was all set to use paypal standard, and then I read in the tutorial that when customers choose to not create a paypal account, their order is left in limbo. So, I changed my mind. Then I read a couple of threads where the problem is actually with godaddy (which I don't use). Is there a problem with orders being in limbo if I use paypal standard??!! :blink:

No, the problem you mentioned is not specific to godaddy. The godaddy issue is something else.

Thanks Dr. Byte. So I will steer away from standard. So if I use express, I can take credit cards? Also, does the statement in the FAQ hold true about having to create a paypal account with express. Because I have also been reading threads that say you can turn that option off.

PayPal's official position at the present time (November 2008) is that Express transactions will require the customer to have or create a PayPal account.

UPDATE: As of March 2009 PayPal posits that accounts are no longer required for Express Checkout transactions in most parts of the world, with some limited geographic exceptions due to localized banking restrictions.
