Bringing my Zencart site back from Dead? (Almost Anyway)

Hi there!

A few months ago I was messing with something and happened to totally nuke my zencart from my server. I was wondering if it is possible to bring it back to the state it was in before this happened?

I would have to start from scratch I believe, with the exception of a "backup file" that I had made of the zencart.sql from within my host cpanel.

The file is called zencart.sql , I'm going to try and attach the file.

Can it be done? I have no clue how to go about doing this, but if it's possible wouldn't mind some direction. I would at least like to see the tweaks I had made in the store come back without doing it all over from complete scratch.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Unless you saved it to your computer, you're pretty much out of luck.

Sometimes web hosts will have a backup of your site, check with them.

Thanks Bob!

What do you suppose that zencart.sql "backup" does then?

Probably a backup of the database. So at least you have that. But all of your customizations will be gone.

Start with a new install, then import the database. You'll need to add product pictures. And of course, you'll need to design it all over again.

Re: Bringing my Zencart site back from Dead? (Almost Anyway)

Also, when I look at my sql databases...there is still a zencart in there that is 6.39 mb in size. That is probably the whole shabang right there...but how do I turn that sucker back on? LOL

This kind tells me that I didn't actually nuke it but maybe messed up the directory location or something along those lines?

If you are referring to nicecarvings.com/cart... yep, it's gone. But hey, you still have the database. That's something.

Re: Bringing my Zencart site back from Dead? (Almost Anyway)

Yep, nothing in the directory at all on the server...except the empty directory itself. However, in my cpanel > databases sits a file called "zencart" and it's 6.39 mb

Is that something I would be able to use to rebuild the cart? If so, I have no idea how. The only thing I can do is backup that database from cpanel to a compressed zip file of about 170kb or so...and I don't know what to do with that either.

If I could get a few people to pretty much tell me that I should start over...I will. To start over I need to delete that 6.3mb database though cause I only have the ability to have 2 sql databases on my hosting package.

Re: Bringing my Zencart site back from Dead? (Almost Anyway)

I'm inside "myphpadmin" looking at my old zencart here. Looks like I can export as the following formats. Would any of these be good to upload back to my /cart directory to get my zencart back up and running by chance?

CSV

CSV for MS Excel

Microsoft Excel 2000

Microsoft Word 2000

LaTeX

Open Document Spreadsheet

Open Document Text

PDF

SQL

XML

YAML

Re: Bringing my Zencart site back from Dead? (Almost Anyway)

Ok, disregard.

Talked to Merlin from Camelot Hosting. He said the includes and stuff is missing so it's a no go. I'm gonna redo it. Good practice anyway I guess. I need to get good at attributes this time around.

Thanks for your help Bob!
