Adding New Regulations

My Client has asked that I add a new regulation to her site, so that customers can not check out without indicating their custom size.

Has there been any work on making it possible to add a regulation from the admin pannel? A module? any help? or do I need to go in and do a lot of modifiying current pages and templates?

I take it that the customer will INPUT their desired size on the product info screen, via an ATTRIBUTE?

When you configure this attribute, there are techniques in the configuration that you can use to force customer input. No input results in an alert and prevents "add to cart" until customer inputs (or selects) data.

My Client had me change the text to the comments box on the checkout_shipping page to have customers indicate in this box.

so the choice would be made as they were checking out rather than in the product selection process.

Ugh so I am finding I might have to do a lot of page modifications. trying to avoid uneccesary work if possible. If not I will dig in and work through it. Just testing the waters so to speak.

Have you heard anything about the possibility of adding new regulations? or a module that would allow this?
