USPS stuck on Express

I recently installed the USPS module and got it to work but when I create a test order, I can select 'priority' but when I go to the next page, the order reflects 'express' even though priority was selected.

Also. The rate for priority is cheaper than parcel. This, I don't understand.

I have only express, priroty and parcel available as selections for domestic. For international I have express and priority large as the only selections.

All of my shipments are of 2lbs or more and are in irregular size boxes ie. cartons golf clubs fit into.

Thanks for any advice on the subject.

Re: USPS stuck on Express

Thanks Dr.Byte.

The following link was given to me that I think might help me out but I can't seem to find out where to make this change. Any idea where to go to get to this point in the followimg link?

Thanks.

Also. I ahd an international customer test the US Postal thing but he was not given the option to choose US Postal even though I have it on. I'm wondering if the above link suggestion is my cure.

Re: USPS stuck on Express

I downloaded the fix and opened it in a notepad file. Can I just delete all that is in /includes/modules/shipping/usps.php and copy and paste the new file that is opend in note pad?

In the current file I did make the change to "class ups { " but that did not solve my problem. It was till stuck on express and there is no international options.

So I'm wondering if it's as easy as copying and pasting.

Thanks.

Re: USPS stuck on Express

Um ... the link I sent you to was to a newer update than the one you seem to be following. You'll need the newer version ... that's why it was written and published.

And, no, don't merely "edit" the file contents via copy-and-paste. Replace it entirely by uploading the updated version to your server.

Re: USPS stuck on Express

Thanks, Doc.

As you can see I'm not very well versed in such matters. I'll go back to your original link and try to figure this out.

I had a friend help me out with this when I first set everything up and I have since lost contact with him. So now I'm trying to learn to do this on my own.

Re: USPS stuck on Express

OK, Doc.

I was able to get it to work. I have an international customer testing it for me now.

One more question. If I select Hawaii as the only zone for US Postal will that disable the international availabilty as well? I am trying to offer Hawaii and international customers the opportunity to use US Postal but would rather ship UPS to all other main 48 customers.

Thanks.

You can limit the shipping module to be available to ONE zone only. But, you can custom-define that Zone Definition to include any number of countries and regions available in your site. And you can define several zones if you need to make zones for different purposes.
