what am i doing to make the 0 DB_ERROR_NOT_CONNECTED error occur?

i use google apps on my domain. made no changes to my zencart email settings when i made the change, and have had no trouble sending emails using batch order update for a month or more.

but when i tried to send a newsletter today, the newsletter wouldn't go through. i thought it might be because of the apps, so i added smtp login info and port number to the email settings page. still nothing. i cycle through the different email send options. at some point, my work hangs, my site shuts down, and instead of my lovely zencart installation i get the following database error.

0 DB_ERROR_NOT_CONNECTED
in:
[db_cache table]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

this has happened before, so i walked away to handle my rage, thinking it was a host issue. a little while later my site is back up. but when i attempted to make email work again just now hours later, i got the same database error!

so now i'm thinking it's something i'm doing that's causing the error.

what could it be? if anyone can let me know i would stop doing that thing, forevermore.

zencart installation is at http://oyinhandmade.com/shop

These messages refer to the fact that mysql is not working correctly. Either your webhost is changing something, there is a problem and the database is overloaded with queries or your host has things things misconfigured. It could also be that limits have been set.

If this happened all of a sudden for both of you, see if your host upgraded or changed things.
