Re: Error when customer wants to login or become a member

Change your configure.php files to ssl "false"
You do not have a functioning SSL Cert installed as noted when the "s" is added...
If you are attempting to use a "shared Cert" go back and validate the recommended https address

What Zen Cart version?
What version is the template written for?
I am theorizing that you have some incompatible files as the template is all tables
Try switching to the classic template and see if you still have the issue - this will indicate if it is one or more template files

Re: Error when customer wants to login or become a member

I use ZenCart 1.3.8 and I bought the template from Zencarttemplate.info I was trying to contact with them for help no reply. Before I was able to see the page correct, I was even able to register as a member, but when I was trying to login it didn't let me get in. Then I followed the rules and I changed something on configure files and right after that this message I start getting. You think if I will reupload configure files and just add "security token" code it will work. because besides adding "security token" code I also made some changes in configure files. The changes That I did is I followed the rule and I changed false to true than some other changes too. Again Thank you very much COBRA

Re: Error when customer wants to login or become a member

It may be a problem with the template you are using.

You can verify if this is the case by switching back to the Classic template to see if the problem goes away.

On another note, the domain you bought the template from is a *commercial *site selling non-free Zen Cart templates:

http://zencarttemplate.info

It is very close to the following domain which currently hosts *free *Zen Cart templates for users to see and try out and is done by Kuroi.

http://(sorry, site offline)/

This can be *misleading *to new Zen Cart forum users so I need to point it out here in case other customers go knocking on the wrong door for their template problems.

Re: Error when customer wants to login or become a member

My thanks to Canopy for drawing this to my attention. He is right that this site has no connection whatsoever to my (sorry, site offline) site.

You have purchased the Furniture Store v.1 from these guys. Let's take a closer look at what they claim about it ...

They claim: that it's a "Ready to use Theme"
It's based on Zen Cart 1.3.5 and, as you have found with the security token, lacks critical support for at least one feature introduced in a later version, which would have to be fixed to make it useable.

They claim: that it's "Valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional"
Except that it has a number of elementary validation errors. Of course, I'm looking at your site and you've made changes ... only I can see the same errors in their store's template too!

They claim: it uses "Table Free CSS DIV Coding"
So what are those ridiculously nested and unnecessary tables. Again, they're so blantant that I wondered if you might have added them ... but they are there in their store's template too.

**They claim: that it has an "External CSS Style Sheet" **
An easy claim, since that's the basis of how Zen Cart works anyway ... so why then embed key styles such as font-size and family in the template files negating the benefit of the external stylesheet?

Conclusion: the template doesn't look a complete disaster on the scale the templatemonster used to produce, but it is clearly out-of-date and mis-sold.

Re: Error when customer wants to login or become a member

Thank you very much for replys.
I had been reading all replys that I got from you guys and it just gave me some other ideas and I tried it worked. I fixed the problem.
Here is the way that I fixed. For all zenners little help from me.

Zen Cart 1.3.8 ?
YES
Custome template ?
YES
Are you getting " There was security error when trying to login" message when you trying log in as a customer?
YES

HERE IS HINT:

-OPEN YOUR FTP PROGRAM

  • OPEN YOUR ZEN CART FOLDER THE ONE YOU STORED IN YOUR COMPUTER
  • GOT TO: includes/templates/template_default/template/tpl login AND tpl time out ( LOOK FOR THOSE TWO FILES)
  • BY USING FTP PROGRAM, UPLOAD THOSE TWO FILES TO: includes/templates/YOUR NEW CUSTOM TEMPLATE/template/tpl login AND tpl time_out.
  • DURING UPLOAD IT WILL ASKED YOU IF YOU WANT TO OVERWRITE SAY YES.

THAT'S IT IT SHOULD WORK. THAT'S HOW I FIXED MINE.

Re: Error when customer wants to login or become a member

An easier way to achieve what you suggest would be to simply delete those files from your customer template. Then the default versions would automatically be used instead, and future updates wouldn't be blocked by the versions now in your custom template.

However, it may be that the template was changed for a good reason, i.e. to support special styling or add additional features, in which case over-writing or deleting it may not be the right solution. In these situations you would need to merge the changes into your template. There is a FAQ on this.

Re: Error when customer wants to login or become a member

Me too, I'm afraid...
Trying to log in on a customer account gives me the dreaded "There was a security error when trying to log in". I've checked the two tpl files and added the security token, but still no dice. I even clicked the button to send me a new password and tried logging in with that, same result. I'm running the latest version (1.3.7), by the way.
Any advice please?
